This document discusses a case study of the University of Canberra's project to design new learning spaces to meet the changing needs of students and staff. It overviews the $3.7 million project funded by the Education Investment Fund to create a staff commons, student commons, and teaching and learning center over 16 months. Floor plans are provided for the staff commons designed to encourage exchange of teaching ideas and the student commons expanding facilities for collaborative learning spaces.

Staff Commons floor plan The idea is for a conceptual space in which communities of educators committed to inquiry and innovation come together to exchange ideas about teaching and learning, and use them to meet the challenges of educating students for personal, professional and civic life.
