Scanning is reading rapidly in order to find
specific facts. It is a technique often used to
search for key words or ideas. It is used when
one knows what he/she is looking for. So he/she
is concentrating on finding a particular answer.
People scan to find facts and to answer
questions.

Scanning involves looking only for specific
information (such as keywords, numbers,
names, etc.) while omitting other details. If your
purpose of reading is to search for specific
information that may be somewhere a text or
graph, scanning is appropriate to use.

2. Look only for that information. Do not read every word in
