Digipak Planning
Kiera Brown
Front, Back and Spine
For this digipak I decided to go with a more
detailed theme by using my Photoshop
techniques. The colour scheme will be
black, blue and red to contrast these colours.
I have decided to place a X in the
background with a blue gradient lighting
behind it to make it look 3D. X is a repetitive
theme that is show throughout this digipak.
Each song on the album has an X within it
and the title of the album also has an X
within the name. The font I will use for the title will be a bold
skinny font like the one used on Skrillex’s CD
cover but I will also overlay a thin layer of smoke
to create a 3D effect which will also link in with
my music video on the smoking scenes. I have
decided to rotate the list of songs on the back
cover to make it more individual to stereotypical
CD covers. I will add in the barcode and copyright
symbols for legal reasons.
Inside cover and CDFor the inside cover I am going to create a
black silhouette of a crowd of people from
a picture I have taken so that it isn't
copyright. I will filter the sky to look more
blue so therefore it links in with the colour
theme going through my CD cover. I have
decided to create behind the CD by using
a smashed glass effect from Photoshop
with gradient shades of blues behind the
glass. I got inspiration to do this from
looking at other digipaks that use a
smashed glass effect.
On the CD the smashed glass theme will be used
once again but I will add underneath the glass the
CD title and artists name as this is a generic
convention of typical CD cases. The cracked effect
will make the CD look 3D and realistic. This also
relates to my production company which is called
“Scratch Vinyl” as the CD is scratched and broke.
