This document discusses the history and current state of digital lending of music through libraries in Denmark. It outlines how libraries first started offering digital music lending in 2004/2005 through a consortium with music industry partners. In 2009, the service was revamped with a new website and flat fee, and saw estimated downloads of 670,000 per month. The document also briefly discusses similar library digital music lending services in Sweden, Norway, and Finland, and considers future opportunities and challenges for the model.
