This article analyzes the impact of divorce, separation, intact families, and parenting styles on children's wellbeing. The authors are Jennifer Baxter PhD, Ruth Weston MA, and Lixia Qu PhD from the Austrian Institute of Family Studies. They find that differences in children's emotional wellbeing are significantly linked to parental hostility, regardless of family type or structure. The quality of parenting and inter-parental relationships during time spent with children affects wellbeing more than the marital status of the parents.
