This document defines a dot plot as a two-dimensional graphical display used to represent quantitative characteristics of objects. It outlines the process of creating a dot plot, its advantages and disadvantages, and provides a comparison of two dot plots illustrating film viewing habits of two individuals, Misbah and Faiza. Misbah's data is more varied while Faiza's data is symmetrical.

DEFINITION OF DOTPLOT
A dot plot is a two-dimensional graphical display of
objects, showing some quantitative characteristic of
those objects.
One axis of the dot plot (usually the horizontal) is
a scale covering the range of quantitative values to
be potted. The other axis(usually the vertical) show
descriptive labels that are associated with each of
the numeric values.
5.
CREATING A DOTPLOT
Draw a number line( horizontal axis) to cover
range from smallest to largest data value.
For each observation, place a dot above the
number line located at the observation's data value.
When multiple observations with the same value,
dots are stacked vertically.
COMPARING TWO DOTPLOTS
Misbah and Faiza compared how many movies they
watched per month of a year.
The two dot plot show each set of data .
# OF MOVIES WATCHED/MONTH (MISBAH) # OF MOVIES WATCHED/MONTH (FAIZA)
Comparasion of two Dot Plots.
Misbah’s dot plot is more spread out than Faiza’s. She has more low values,
but also has some high numbers. Faiza’s dot plot is symmetrical.
