INTRODUCTION
-Automotive Industry-
 This class consists of units mainly engaged in manufacturing motor vehicles or motor
vehicle engines.
 The primary activities of this industry are: Motor cars manufacturing Motor vehicle
engine manufacturing.
 The major products and services in this industry are: Passenger motor vehicle
manufacturing segment (Passenger Cars, Utility Vehicles & Multi Purpose Vehicles),
Commercial Vehicles (Medium & Heavy & Light Commercial Vehicles)
 Supply Chain of Automobile Industry: The supply chain of automotive industry in India is
very similar to the supply chain of the automotive industry in Europe and America. The
orders of the industry arise from the bottom of the supply chain i.e. from the consumers
and goes through the automakers and climbs up until the third tier suppliers.

 Mahindra and Mahindra Limited (M&M) is an Indian multifunctional car
manufacturing corporation headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
 Mahindra & Mohammad was set up as a steel trading company in 1945 in Ludhiana as
Mahindra & Mohammed by brothers Kailash Chandra Mahindra and J.C.

 Tata Motors Limited (formerly TELCO, short for Tata Engineering and
Locomotive Company) headquartered in Mumbai, is an Indian multinational
automtive manufacturing company and a member of the Tata group.
 Tata Motors entered the passenger vehicle market in 1988, becoming the first Indian
manufacturer to achieve the capability of developing a competitive indigenous
automobile.
 Its products include passenger cars, trucks, vans, coaches, buses, sports cars,
construction equipment and military vehicles.
 Tata Technologies Limited (TTL) is a 43%-owned subsidiary of Tata Motors which
provides design, engineering, and business process outsourceing services to the
automotive industry.
