The cities of Bhuj and Bhachau were most severely damaged, with over 90% of buildings destroyed in Bhuj. Over 600,000 people were left homeless. The Indian government and relief organizations from around the world provided emergency aid, while long-term reconstruction projects were launched with support from international organizations.
