Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hard Disk Interface
The hard disk interface characterizes the physical segments and logical segments based on the
connectivity of the hardware to the computer. In the 1980s, the most mainstream disk interfaces were
ST506/412 and ESDI, which are presently out of date. These old drives utilize two strip links (a 20
stick data link and a 34 stick control link) versus the single lace link utilized by present day drives.
Discovering one of these old double link drives in a computer voluntarily builds up that computer is
excessively old, making it impossible to be upgrade financially. The new age computers utilize at least
one of the accompanying hard disk interfaces:

SCSI interfaces are accessible in different subtypes, which have distinctive physical and electrical
interfaces and transfer rates. Present day SCSI hard disks are the biggest, quickest disks accessible,
although as of late IDE and SATA hard disks have started to approach SCSI in size and speed. Inside
the distinctive SCSI flavors, interfaces are very much characterized and institutionalized; yet
arranging SCSI to chip away at a standard PC can be complicated.
SCSI disks are occasionally utilized as a part of desktop PCs since they cost more than ATA disks with
comparable limit and execution. For instance, if an ATA hard disk costs $90, a comparable SCSI
model may cost $175. Further, the higher cost of SCSI drives, utilizing a SCSI drive requires
introducing a SCSI have connector, which may add $50 to $300 to framework cost.
In any case, spending additional cost on SCSI may enhance general performance more than spending
a similar total on a fast

Essay about Nine Inch Nails versus Johnny Cash
Which Version Of Hurt Would You Prefer?
Nine Inch Nails versus Johnny Cash The song Hurt written by Trent Reznor and originally performed
by his band Nine Inch Nails is a melancholy, haunting song. Nine Inch Nails version was recorded in
1994 and rerecorded and released by Johnny Cash in 2002. Each of the performers has a style, which
some people would argue is at opposite ends of the spectrum of popular music; one is what is referred
to as Industrial Rock , the other is country. Indeed, the musical genres are diverse; however, the song
Hurt transcends the boundaries between old and new, hard and soft, and especially the differences and
similarities between these men. Nine Inch Nails is known for their industrial rock ... Show more

Reznor is not only a performer; he regularly produces records for other artists ( The Nine Inch Nails
Wiki, 2012). The story goes that Cash s record producer, called and asked Reznor for permission to
cover the song Hurt . Sharples states, It was as if Trent Reznor unconsciously wrote it for Mr. Cash
(2011). Trent Reznor was flattered that someone with Johnny s musical talent and long standing status
in the music world would even be interested in interpreting his song. When Trent first heard the final
copy of Johnny s version, Trent stated, . . .it felt like somebody kissed your girlfriend ( The Nine Inch
Nails Wiki, 2012). According to Sharples, it would be some four months later that Trent and his music
team would see Johnny s video for the song. It was then that Reznor was flattered, honored, and
moved to tears by the results (2011). Reznor says. By the end I was really on the verge of tears. There
was, like, this moist clearing of our throats and then, Uh, OK, let s get some coffee. (Sharples, 2011).
After Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Trent became angry at the lack of response of the
government. He had interest in New Orleans because his studio was a place he perfected his sound
and made music that earned Platinum status in sales. Reznor played a benefit telethon concert to aid
the American Red Cross and sang the song Hurt with the lyrical changes made by Johnny

The Themes Of Revenge And Family In The Vendattas
Overall all of my four texts, show us the themes of revenge and family. Each text has either a
character or a set of characters that aim to get their payback because one of their family member s has
been hurt or killed. In the Patriot, Benjamin martin s son was murdered, in Inglouris Bastards,
Shozzanas family was murdered, in Smashed, Toby sisters was raped, and in The Vendattas, the old
widows son was murdered. In each of these texts, the avenger experiences grief and shock and we as
the audience see how that feeling turns into a deep anger that fuels revenge. Furthermore none of the
avengers, have been hurt physically or emotionally directly, it is their family which has been. The
theme of family which connects my four texts, is seen through this idea of family members getting

This links to my other theme revenge, since it theirs pain that other family member experiences that
gives warrant to for character to seek revenge. As seen in my texts revenge is seen as a way to satisfy
ones emotions of anger and grief. It is important to note that these ideas are not old ones. Both the idea
of a strong family connection, and getting revenge is simply human nature. All four texts show human
nature at its finest. The variation of time periods of my texts back this up because it shows how human
nature has not changed from the 1700 s to now. Although human nature can be a good thing in terms
of protecting family and survival, it has its flaws. In all four texts, my characters have based their
decisions to seek revenge on their emotions. The irrational decision that my characters make, are form
of human nature also. Human are animals, and we inherit animal instincts such as the ability to make
mistakes. The texts I have selected teach us, through the themes of revenge and family ,that making
decisions based on emotions, instead of using our brain is a dangerous thing to

Every Body Is A Masterpiece
Every body is a Masterpiece
Fat. Ugly. Skinny. Obese. Slim. Plump. Anorexic. Flabby. Thin. Scrawny. These are just a few terms
that are used when people humiliate others on their appearance or body shape; in other words, body

sending out images to young girls of the perfect body or the idea of body goals. Everyday, people see
tweets or posts on various social networking sites harassing others, like Instagram, Ask.fm, Facebook,

Essay about The Natural
Bernard Malamud was brought up in the mid 1900s, a time period when baseball played a huge role in
the lives of many Americans. Americans loved baseball because it gave them a chance to stop working
and simply relax while they cheered on their favorite team. It was a time when people played baseball
solely for the love of the game and the thrill of hearing the fans cheer for them. Today, however,
baseball is much more corrupt, and many athletes are only in it due to their own greed and selfishness.
This strong desire for money stems from some important players in the past, such as Babe Ruth and
Joe DiMaggio, who were outstanding athletes and grew very overconfident in their abilities. They

Kevin Baker described him as staggering in his self absorption (Baker, xii). This means that he is
confident to the point that he believes he can do everything himself, and doesn t care about the rest of
his team. Roy is also a very greedy man, and his greed is accentuated by his baseball skills. For
example, Roy s contract entitled him to make three thousand dollars for the season. Within a few
weeks, he decided that this was not enough, so he spoke with the team owner about a raise. In the
novel, it says that: He figured for himself a flat forty five thousand dollars for the rest of the season
(Malamud, 89). Forty five thousand dollars is more than most baseball players made in an entire
season, and he was asking for this astronomical amount for only half of a season. Each of these traits
can be considered one of Roy s tragic flaws. His greed and his self confidence both contribute to his
downfall at the end of the novel, in which he is humiliated due to his acceptance of a bribe to throw an
important game and lose the pennant. In the New York Times, an article written by Harry Sylvester
stated: Roy Hobbs almost achieved greatness, but was distracted or betrayed by people, objects, or

Emotional Intelligence And Professional Success
Emotional Intelligence in Nursing
Introduction
Emotional Intelligence 2.0 brings about the idea that the more someone is aware of their own
emotions and other peoples emotions they will have a significant increase in personal and professional
success by applying strategies from the four core emotional intelligence skills: self awareness, self
management, social awareness, and relationship management. The idea of emotional intelligence was
first proposed in 1964 and since then other physiologists have added their insights and broken it down
into four to five different categories. Emotional intelligence (EQ) was recently defined as one s ability
to recognize own emotions and other people s emotions and applying this understanding to manage
your behavior and relationships (Bradberry Greaves, 2009). With application to the nursing world,
having high EQ knowledge will improve roles and functions of nursing, teach fellow coworkers
techniques to lead, and help individuals grow in identifying emotions and further understanding one s
self.
History of EQ Micheal Beldoch first introduced the idea of EQ in 1964, in Sensitivity to Expression of
Emotional Meaning in Three Modes of Communication, a paper that examined three modes of
communication: vocal, musical and graphic, to identify non verbal emotional expressions (Beldoch,
1964). It was hypothesized that, like intelligence, emotional sensitivity might be characterized by a
general factor which operated in a variety of media,

Bernard Roth s Rhetorical Analysis Of Reasons Are Bull Shit
The Rhetorical Analysis of Reasons Are Bull Shit
With the use of the Aristotle Rhetorical Triangle, Bernard Roth proves that reasons are bull shit. Now,
what is the rhetorical triangle exactly? The rhetorical triangle is made up of three different parts of
persuasion. The first is ethos, which is also usually known as the author s credibility. The second is
pathos, where the author uses emotion or language to grab your attention. And finally is logos,
therefore using logic to persuade. In the chapter, Reasons are Bull Shit of the book The Achievement

Analyse Two or Three of Heaney s Poems to Show How Common...
Heaney s first anthology Death of a Naturalist is the best source for poems that show how common
and often mundane things are described in beautiful language and rediscovered as meaningful
activities. Digging , Blackberry Picking and Personal Helicon are prime examples of Kavanagh s
words.
When reading the name of the poem Digging , it seems like it will be about nothing at all. Digging is a
basic and ordinary activity and the reader does not expect anything meaningful when reading the
poem. This is deceptive, because the first two lines present readers with a sense of choice. Heaney
immediately makes them aware of the deeper issue of the subject he is about to explore and therefore
creates an alertness in them.
Heaney labels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He digs with such intensity that he rests only to drink a bottle of milk before returning to his task. The
grandfather s professionalism is contrasted to Heaney s clumsiness, because he brings his grandfather
a bottle of milk corked sloppily with paper (20).
It is clear that the seventh stanza is no longer about digging. It is about something far more significant.
Heaney remembers the act of digging and it is no longer poetic. He describes the smell of potato
mould as cold (25) and the sounds are no longer clean and precise. This sudden reality of the
messiness of digging implies that Heaney is no longer referring to the activity, but rather is returning
to the violence of the first stanza. The choice he gives is the pen or the gun and in the last line of the
seventh stanza Heaney states that he has no spade to follow men like (28) his father and grandfather.
Ultimately. Heaney chooses the pen over the gun and therefore poetry over violence. The last stanza
shows that Heaney has faith in his poetry to make a difference. He believes that it can solve problems
that can not be resolved with a gun.
Digging is not a poem about an ordinary and simple activity, but rather a metaphor of choice between
poetry and violence. Blackberry Picking is similar in its function, but broaches a different subject.
Again the heading names a simple and ordinary

Fluids from one of the artificial blossoms dripped onto a colored reptile s head, causing it to contort
violently and pass away agonizingly. This imparts how science is able to devise potent materials
capable of stripping organisms of their lives. A delicate winged insect was attracted by the heavy
perfumes of the artificial flowers and was killed, suggesting that detrimental scientific discoveries can
destroy innocence by luring unsuspecting individuals into its pitfall and annihilate them. The
psychotic scientist, Giacomo Rappaccini, is described as a sickly, elderly man lacking warmth of
hearth and wearing black clothing. This indicates that the process of making scientific improvements
itself can be damaging to the scientist and can eliminate them of their morals, as black symbolizes evil
which suits Rappaccini due to him seeking human test subjects. Once Beatrice realizes the enormity of
the mischief imposed by Rappaccini, she promptly consumed the phial with the antidote and begins to

Seventeenth (Stafford Line 1), which I stated previously. He described where he was on the roads,
while also making a play on words by describing his age stance. He is a fifteen year old boy, as many
can tell by the name of the poem. He farther asserted his idea with this initial opening line, stating that
he is under seventeen years old, but he is close to crossing the bridge to being seventeen. Following
after, more into the poem he talks about discovering a motorcycle on the side of the road with the
engine still running. He grabs the motorcycle and grasps the handles as if he is about to take off. I
admired all that pulsing gleam, the shiny flanks, the demure headlights fringed where it lay (Stafford

in the poem shows his still younger, naive side. The naive feelings comply to the fact that he is only

Commitment Of Children s Children
commitment to their children.
Child s grandmother attended the Flandreau Indian School in the 1920s. She took part in the outing
program which meant that she was sent into a local white household to work as a domestic servant.
Like most other students, she was not enthusiastic about the program and the servitude; however she
did like the sewing classes and needlework that the school offered as part of the domestic training. She
learned how to sew quilts and pillowcases for members of her own family. One of her grandmother s
fondest memories was of the other students at the school many of them Sioux who spoke the Dakota
language. Although the assimilationists were committed to the repression of trial languages and
culture, the Indian students learned each other s tribal languages as well as English. Child believes her
grandmother was a fairly typical student of the era her father was a widower and single parents often
sent their children away for school because reservation life was often harsh and unpredictable for both
children and adults. Her grandfather had been swindled out of his allotment at White Earth and then

The government was more interested in customs duties that they may generate from these incoming

immigration remained under the said bureau until 1937, when it was transferred again as a division
under the Bureau of Labor. This was mainly to respond to the arrival of Chinese nationals who owned

Socrates Was A Greek Philosopher And The Main Source Of...
Socrates was a Greek philosopher and the main source of Western thought. He was born circa 470 BC,
in Athens, Greece and also through the writings of his students, Plato and Xenophon we of his life.
Socrates was the son of Sophroniscus, an Athenian sculptor and stone maker, and Phaenarete, a
midwife. Because he was not from a superior family, he got a basic Greek education and learned his
father s craft at a young age. Before Socrates devoted his life to philosophy, it is believed he worked
as a mason for many years. Socrates married Xanthippe, a younger woman and they had three sons
Lamprocles, Sophroniscus and Menexenus. Furthermore, the Athenian law required all able bodied
males serve as citizen soldiers for duty from ages 18 until they were 60. According to Plato, Socrates
served in the armoured infantry known as the hoplite with shield, face mask and long spear. He
participated in three military campaigns during the Peloponnesian War, at Delium, and Potidaea,
Amphipolis where he saved the life of Alcibiades, a popular Athenian general. A trait that stayed with
him throughout his life was his courage in battle and fearlessness. After his trial, he compared his
refusal to retreat from his legal troubles to a soldier s refusal to retreat from battle when threatened
with death. Plato s Symposium provides the best details of Socrates s physical appearance, saying that
he was not the ideal of Athenian masculinity. Short and stocky, with a snub nose and bulging eyes,

characters do they ve won the hearts of millions. But, that doesn t necessarily mean their heightened
popularity will lead to critical success (don t confuse critical with commercial because Minions are
poised to dominate the box office).
So, can the Minions fill a full movie on their own with Gru and the kids?

They make landfall in New York City which is where they eventually see an advertisement for Villain
Con, headlined by a potential new boss: the evil Scarlet Overkill (voiced by Sandra Bullock).
Once in Orlando (the location of the Villain Con), the trio manages to win the job as Scarlet s new
henchmen. Under the tutelage of Scarlet and her husband, Herb (Jon Hamm), she commands the
Minions to steal the crown of England s Queen Elizabeth II (Jennifer Saunders). But, in true Minion
fashion, a catastrophe becomes beneficial to them when they are unexpectedly put in charge of the UK
to the chagrin of Scarlet.
Both Despicable Me, and its sequel, Despicable Me 2, were global sensations for Illumination

The principle of historical cost is still used in...
Synopsis.
Historical Cost Accounting is a traditional valuation method as it reflects only on the past cost of the
asset, however in the contemporary business environment companies must remain flexible and
transparent. This belief has lead to the creation of several other valuation methods, due to word
constraints I have focused primarily on Fair Value Accounting as an alternative to Historical Cost
Accounting. Although Fair value accounting is a theoretically superior valuation methodology, there
are several severe problems in its current application, due to lax regulations and ineffective methods of
determining current values of non current assets. These problems within Fair Value Accounting have
ensured that most companies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Appropriate valuation of assets without verifiable data can be difficult and subjective. This is
especially the case when there is no market for the asset and valuation must be wholly speculative,
often leading to unintentional over valuations of assets.
Furthermore, management using Fair Value Accounting may intentionally over value assets to
improve the financial position of the company, as asset appreciation is recorded as revenue. Watts
(2003, 2) points out that Enron s ability to manipulate fair values and WorldCom s capitalisation of
unverifiable unused capacity, were factors in those particular accounting scandals.
Comparison between Historical Cost Accounting and Fair Value Accounting.
Quite clearly historical cost accounting has several limitations and flaws that can have notable
influences on businesses and are often criticised. Still historical costs are the standard form of
accounting due to its unique features and conventions that make it better than all currently available
alternatives.
If markets were liquid and transparent for all assets and liabilities, fair value accounting clearly would
be reliable information useful in the decision making process. However, because many assets and
liabilities do not have an active market, the inputs and methods for estimating their fair value are more
subjective and, therefore, the valuations less reliable. Management bias, whether intentional or
unintentional,

The German Schools
Continuing on the thought of education, April 1933 Jewish teachers were soon told to leave the
German schools and universities after the Enabling Act was soon passed. The Jewish population of
students at those universities dropped to the lowest 1 percent to resemble to the amount of Jews in
Germany, and this was all in the same year. For 5 years everything lasted at that standard until 1938
hit. When 1938 hit, every Jewish child was soon banned from attending the German schools officially,
no matter their status of where they were in that school. Judgment and segregation in the educational
system and society as a whole was steady. Germany made it to where education was where the Nazis
can basically display and endorse their racial policies.
Many teachers began to act as if the political changes to standard were never changed. The ones who
did support the Nazis decision were soon converted to Nazism and began to undergo a new daily life
and routine. For the small percentage of 32 percent who were teachers and were brought to the Nazi
Party to be a member would wear their uniform to school and teach in it. When teachers finally
decided to develop their support system for the Party in the classrooms, the whole vibe had changed
within the students.
The teacher would enter the classroom and welcome the group with a Hitler salute , shouting Heil
Hitler! Students would have to respond in the same manner, often eight times each day at the start and
end of the day, in

It needs to make full use of modern and flexible work organisation and to adopt patterns of work that
will fit challenges in the future. One group of staff that this affects particularly is sessional lecturers
(hourly paid teaching staff). These staff are employed year on year to deliver an agreed number of
teaching hours. This group of staff is used to give the university flexibility. Sessional lecturers have
commonly been used to cover absences. The impact of this legislation is that sessional staff, who have
been with the university for over 4 years, have been offered indefinite contracts, whereas staff that
have durations of less than 4 years have not. The impact of this is to cause a poor relationship between
employer and employee and as such the number of grievances are on the increase. Competition The
extent to which the market influences employee relations and styles depends upon competitive

Sequel To H. G. Wells The Time Machine
The premise of a sequel to H.G. Wells The Time Machine could have been treated in a number of
ways. Some analysts have commended Wells for his literal minded approach which they find to be his
pastiche. To some however, the opposite (the Hollywood approach) is facetious and throws out
everything related to Wells, retaining the association only for marketing purposes. A Scientific
Romance has a different and unique approach altogether. For instance, Ronald Wright s style and
approach is exceptional and difficult to describe properly. The author uses Wells masterpiece as a non
linear launch point to better The Time Machine in a way that no other time travel stories has done.

Friendship In John Knowles s A Separate Peace
In life, a person is never able to stay in contact with every person they have met. An acquaintance is
no exception to this idea; friends will come and go, and this is inevitable. Sometimes a companion will
move away, never to be seen again, cut themselves off, never to be heard from again, or pass away,
never to do anything again. One bad occurrence can make or break a relationship. It all depends on
whether the resolution of it will cement a life long friendship or a lifelong schism. Any relationship
can be complicated, to the point of making no sense at all. This is similar to what John Knowles writes
about on his novel, A Separate Peace. Knowles writes of one of his main characters, Gene Forrester,
experiencing some of the themes above. Gene causes his friend Finny s leg to be broken, and Knowles
uses the resulting events to convey the idea that a friendship does not always have to make sense for it
to exist. In nearly every major interaction involving Gene, he consistently exhibits behavior which
would certainly sabotage his relationship with Finny and other peers. He harbors harsh and strong
emotions, which eventually do make themselves clear to the person they belong to. For example, Gene
begins a conspiracy against Finny, thinking, Finny had deliberately set out to wreck my studies (53).
Even after Finny eventually resolves the complications between himself and Gene, he still falls victim
to Gene s latent emotions a short moment after the reconciliation. In a

Poe V. Leonard
BACKGROUND
Because this is an appeal from the denial of a motion for summary judgment, we construe the
evidence in the light most favorable to Poe, the non moving party. See, e.g., Goldberg v. Cablevision

I. Factual Background
A. The Filming of the Trooper Candidate Testing Videos
At some time during the fall of 1992, several administrative officials of the Connecticut State Police (
CSP ) and the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services began to revise the testing
procedures for trooper candidates at the CSP Training Academy ( police academy ). Captain Leonard,
who had just assumed command of the CSP Bureau of Selections and Training,[1] supervised this

In 1989, Pearl was given an unsatisfactory performance evaluation report for photographing several
young women in swimsuits in a private bedroom while filming a public safety announcement. In
1983, a woman filed a formal complaint against Pearl, alleging that he made numerous unwanted and
improper advances toward her and improperly touched her when he escorted her to and from the
hospital following her epileptic seizure. These incidents, however, all occurred well before Leonard
assumed command.
Although the incidents were described in Pearl s personnel file, at no time prior to the incident
involving Poe did Leonard review Pearl s personnel file.[2] Leonard was unaware of, and was not
informed by his predecessor[3] of, any performance or disciplinary issues involving Pearl at any time
prior to the incident involving Poe.[4] In his affidavit, Leonard indicated that it is not the policy or
practice of the CSP for supervisors newly assigned to supervisory 128*128 positions to review the
personnel, disciplinary or internal affairs files of subordinate employees without some justifiable
reason to do so. Leonard Aff. ¶ 11. Leonard also testified during his deposition that while outgoing
supervisors and their replacements may discuss informally any pending personnel problems, the CSP
had no formal policy of outgoing supervisors providing such information to their replacements.

What the mind conceives and believes it aims to achieve.
A father s misconceptions can negatively impact his children. In Death of a salesman , Arthur Miller
demonstrates how Willy s perception of success has created a situation of conflict between him and
his sons, especially Biff. As a result, the father son relationship becomes dysfunctional. For Willy,
success can be achieved through recognition and popularity. He projects his perception of success on
his sons with high hopes that they will achieve it. Ben, Willy s brother in his mind embodies the image
of success and road not taken (Centola). Biff had the most tension with his father, due to the fact that
his father had high expectations of him. Nevertheless, it was a huge disappointment ... Show more

Mcdonald s Organizational Behavior
McDonald s and Its Crisis
What should a company do when its core product is considered unhealthy or even harmful by the
public? Is it even possible for such a company survive and thrive; or will it have to shut down its
business? McDonald s fast food has for a long time been considered unhealthy by the public. In recent
years, the health conscious trends have become increasingly popular. Moreover, many scientific
studies and findings have surfaced and successfully confirmed that children s increasing intake of fast
food, which often contains high sodium content, sugars, saturated fats, and calories, for a long period
of time would lead to childhood obesity. Moreover, obese children have a much higher risk of many

Furthermore, the corporation was heavily condemned by the public for exploiting children market and
causing childhood obesity. Indeed, McDonald s has been using advertising which mainly targeted
children. As a result, according to the survey to American school student in 1996, 96 percent of all
children could identify Ronald McDonald (Cohen, 2011, p8 5). How was McDonald s able to achieve
the above result? McDonald s children marketing strategies were very simple but extremely effective
to give small toys as a treatment to children in order to appeal to their interests. With the repeated uses
of this psychological influencing tactic, children would subconsciously make a connection between
McDonald s and toys. Therefore, children, who were under the influences of McDonald s marketing
strategies, could not help to think of McDonald s whenever thinking of toys.
The plaintiff, Monet Parham, a California mother of two, sued McDonald s overly exploiting children
market on Oct 2010 (Dan, 2011).She claimed that McDonald s gave out alluring toys that come with
the meals in order to lure kids into unhealthy diet. The mother also stated that McDonald s make it so
much harder to say no to her kids when they are really want those toys (York, 2010). The CSPI
(Center for Science in the Public Interest) confirmed that kids do not have the cognitive maturity to
understand the persuasive intent of advertising (York, 2010). Later on, the ban of serving Happy

What Is The Difference Between Substantive And Procedural Law
In this essay, we will do an international comparison between the U.S. and Mexico reviewing
substantive law, procedural law, judicial law, policing systems, and international police cooperation.
Currently the U.S. legal system is based on a common law system, while Mexico is based on a civil
law system. The U.S. and Mexico have substantive and procedural law. Substantive law and
procedural law are the two main categories within the law. Substantive law refers to the body of rules
that determine the rights and obligations of individuals and collective bodies. Procedural law is the
body of legal rules that govern the process for determining the rights of parties (LD). Both countries
have a judicial review of legislative acts. Judicial review is a process under which executive and (in
some countries) legislative actions are subject to review by the judiciary. The power of courts to assess
whether a law is in compliance with the constitution (wiki). In the U.S., the legal system appears to
provide everyone with a fair trail as well as safety and security. This is not what is given to those that
reside in Mexico. Like stated before, the main problem in Mexico is the links to government officials
and the cartels. Before political officials are voted into office, they should be vetted for ties to the local
cartels, and not allowed to serve within the government if they have previously worked with the
cartels. The policing system in Mexico is as follows: 1. The Federal Police which seem to be
concerned primarily with the cartels. They also patrol all the toll roads. Federal Police don t give
tickets within the city. 2. The Metro Police who deal with all other non Federal crimes (and also the
drug war). Metro Police also don t give traffic tickets. 3. The Transit Police who are responsible for
traffic violations within the metro areas. If the Transit Police have higher crime issues to deal with,
they call the Metro Police. 4. The Army, who are there ONLY to deal with the cartels (CB).
In comparing Mexico with the U.S. in terms of the legal system and policing, the biggest difference is
corruption. With human and drug trafficking at an all time high, Mexico Officials are also trying to
fight corruption

Example Of Code Switching
Based off the google dictionary, code switching refers to the practice of alternating between two or
more languages or varieties of language in conversation. The dictionary definition showcases how
people would talk using two or more languages or accents whenever they talk to others. If I were to
compare the two versions, my version is different from the dictionary definition, but the same concept.
I could see the term being used when we say different forms of our language to people in different
environments. It could occur when you would use slang when talking to your friends, but talk more

me, that seems like a good example of the dictionary definition. The exact time code switching was

Another example comes from a youtube video called, Denice Frohman Accents . According to Denice

code switching. Using her mother as an example and using code switching at the end highlighted the
dictionary definition of the term. For my definition, however, I would summarize the definition in my

Diabetes Mellitus As A Chronic Metabolic Disorder Essay
Chapter 23
Diabetes
Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that prevents the body to utilise glucose completely
or partially. It is characterised by raised glucose concentration in the blood and alterations in
carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism. This can be due to failure in the formation of insulin or
liberation or action. Since insulin is produced by the p cells of the islets of Langerhans, any receding
in the number of functioning cells will decrease the amount of insulin that can be synthesised. Many
diabetics can produce sufficient insulin but some stimulus to the islets tissue is needed in order that
secretion can take place. During the early stages of the disease, the Insulin Like Activity (ILA) of the
blood is often increased, but most of this insulin appears to be bound to protein and is not available for
transport across the cell membrane and action of the cell. Globally, as of 2010, an estimated 285
million people had diabetes, with type 2 making up about 90% of the cases. In 2011 it resulted in 1.4
million deaths worldwide making it the 8th leading cause of death. This is an increase from 1 million
deaths in 2000. Its rate has increased, and by 2030, this number is estimated to almost double.
Diabetes mellitus occurs throughout the world, but is more common (especially type 2) in more
developed countries. The greatest increase in rates is, however, expected to occur in Asia and Africa,
where most people with diabetes will

In the 1980s, the most mainstream disk interfaces were ST506/412 and ESDI, which are presently out of date. These old drives utilize two strip links (a 20 stick data link and a 34 stick control link) versus the single lace link utilized by present day drives. • 3. Essay about Nine Inch Nails versus Johnny Cash Which Version Of Hurt Would You Prefer? Nine Inch Nails versus Johnny Cash The song Hurt written by Trent Reznor and originally performed by his band Nine Inch Nails is a melancholy, haunting song. Nine Inch Nails version was recorded in 1994 and rerecorded and released by Johnny Cash in 2002. Each of the performers has a style, which some people would argue is at opposite ends of the spectrum of popular music; one is what is referred to as Industrial Rock , the other is country. Indeed, the musical genres are diverse; however, the song Hurt transcends the boundaries between old and new, hard and soft, and especially the differences and similarities between these men. Trent Reznor was flattered that someone with Johnny s musical talent and long standing status in the music world would even be interested in interpreting his song. When Trent first heard the final copy of Johnny s version, Trent stated, . . .it felt like somebody kissed your girlfriend ( The Nine Inch Nails Wiki, 2012). According to Sharples, it would be some four months later that Trent and his music team would see Johnny s video for the song. It was then that Reznor was flattered, honored, and moved to tears by the results (2011). Reznor says. By the end I was really on the verge of tears. In the Patriot, Benjamin martin s son was murdered, in Inglouris Bastards, Shozzanas family was murdered, in Smashed, Toby sisters was raped, and in The Vendattas, the old widows son was murdered. In each of these texts, the avenger experiences grief and shock and we as the audience see how that feeling turns into a deep anger that fuels revenge. Both the idea of a strong family connection, and getting revenge is simply human nature. All four texts show human nature at its finest. The variation of time periods of my texts back this up because it shows how human nature has not changed from the 1700 s to now. Americans loved baseball because it gave them a chance to stop working and simply relax while they cheered on their favorite team. It was a time when people played baseball solely for the love of the game and the thrill of hearing the fans cheer for them. Today, however, baseball is much more corrupt, and many athletes are only in it due to their own greed and selfishness. This means that he is confident to the point that he believes he can do everything himself, and doesn t care about the rest of his team. Roy is also a very greedy man, and his greed is accentuated by his baseball skills. For example, Roy s contract entitled him to make three thousand dollars for the season. Within a few weeks, he decided that this was not enough, so he spoke with the team owner about a raise. In the novel, it says that: He figured for himself a flat forty five thousand dollars for the rest of the season (Malamud, 89). Forty five thousand dollars is more than most baseball players made in an entire season, and he was asking for this astronomical amount for only half of a season. Each of these traits can be considered one of Roy s tragic flaws. His greed and his self confidence both contribute to his downfall at the end of the novel, in which he is humiliated due to his acceptance of a bribe to throw an important game and lose the pennant. Emotional Intelligence And Professional Success Emotional Intelligence in Nursing Introduction Emotional Intelligence 2.0 brings about the idea that the more someone is aware of their own emotions and other peoples emotions they will have a significant increase in personal and professional success by applying strategies from the four core emotional intelligence skills: self awareness, self management, social awareness, and relationship management. The idea of emotional intelligence was first proposed in 1964 and since then other physiologists have added their insights and broken it down into four to five different categories. Emotional intelligence (EQ) was recently defined as one s ability to recognize own emotions and other people s emotions and applying this understanding to manage your behavior and relationships (Bradberry Greaves, 2009). With application to the nursing world, having high EQ knowledge will improve roles and functions of nursing, teach fellow coworkers techniques to lead, and help individuals grow in identifying emotions and further understanding one s self. History of EQ Micheal Beldoch first introduced the idea of EQ in 1964, in Sensitivity to Expression of Emotional Meaning in Three Modes of Communication, a paper that examined three modes of communication: vocal, musical and graphic, to identify non verbal emotional expressions (Beldoch, 1964). It was hypothesized that, like intelligence, emotional sensitivity might be characterized by a general factor which operated in a variety of media, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Digging is a basic and ordinary activity and the reader does not expect anything meaningful when reading the poem. It is clear that the seventh stanza is no longer about digging. It is about something far more significant. Heaney remembers the act of digging and it is no longer poetic. He describes the smell of potato mould as cold (25) and the sounds are no longer clean and precise. This sudden reality of the messiness of digging implies that Heaney is no longer referring to the activity, but rather is returning to the violence of the first stanza. Socrates was the son of Sophroniscus, an Athenian sculptor and stone maker, and Phaenarete, a midwife. Before Socrates devoted his life to philosophy, it is believed he worked as a mason for many years. He participated in three military campaigns during the Peloponnesian War, at Delium, and Potidaea, Amphipolis where he saved the life of Alcibiades, a popular Athenian general. A trait that stayed with him throughout his life was his courage in battle and fearlessness. After his trial, he compared his refusal to retreat from his legal troubles to a soldier s refusal to retreat from battle when threatened with death. • 22. The principle of historical cost is still used in... Synopsis. Historical Cost Accounting is a traditional valuation method as it reflects only on the past cost of the asset, however in the contemporary business environment companies must remain flexible and transparent. This belief has lead to the creation of several other valuation methods, due to word constraints I have focused primarily on Fair Value Accounting as an alternative to Historical Cost Accounting. Although Fair value accounting is a theoretically superior valuation methodology, there are several severe problems in its current application, due to lax regulations and ineffective methods of determining current values of non current assets. These problems within Fair Value Accounting have ensured that most companies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Appropriate valuation of assets without verifiable data can be difficult and subjective. This is especially the case when there is no market for the asset and valuation must be wholly speculative, often leading to unintentional over valuations of assets. Furthermore, management using Fair Value Accounting may intentionally over value assets to improve the financial position of the company, as asset appreciation is recorded as revenue. Watts (2003, 2) points out that Enron s ability to manipulate fair values and WorldCom s capitalisation of unverifiable unused capacity, were factors in those particular accounting scandals. Comparison between Historical Cost Accounting and Fair Value Accounting. Quite clearly historical cost accounting has several limitations and flaws that can have notable influences on businesses and are often criticised. Still historical costs are the standard form of accounting due to its unique features and conventions that make it better than all currently available alternatives. If markets were liquid and transparent for all assets and liabilities, fair value accounting clearly would be reliable information useful in the decision making process. However, because many assets and liabilities do not have an active market, the inputs and methods for estimating their fair value are more subjective and, therefore, the valuations less reliable. The Jewish population of students at those universities dropped to the lowest 1 percent to resemble to the amount of Jews in Germany, and this was all in the same year. For 5 years everything lasted at that standard until 1938 hit. When 1938 hit, every Jewish child was soon banned from attending the German schools officially, no matter their status of where they were in that school. Judgment and segregation in the educational system and society as a whole was steady. Germany made it to where education was where the Nazis can basically display and endorse their racial policies. Many teachers began to act as if the political changes to standard were never changed. The ones who did support the Nazis decision were soon converted to Nazism and began to undergo a new daily life and routine. For the small percentage of 32 percent who were teachers and were brought to the Nazi Party to be a member would wear their uniform to school and teach in it. • 26. Friendship In John Knowles s A Separate Peace In life, a person is never able to stay in contact with every person they have met. An acquaintance is no exception to this idea; friends will come and go, and this is inevitable. Sometimes a companion will move away, never to be seen again, cut themselves off, never to be heard from again, or pass away, never to do anything again. One bad occurrence can make or break a relationship. It all depends on whether the resolution of it will cement a life long friendship or a lifelong schism. Any relationship can be complicated, to the point of making no sense at all. This is similar to what John Knowles writes about on his novel, A Separate Peace. Knowles writes of one of his main characters, Gene Forrester, experiencing some of the themes above. Gene causes his friend Finny s leg to be broken, and Knowles uses the resulting events to convey the idea that a friendship does not always have to make sense for it to exist. In nearly every major interaction involving Gene, he consistently exhibits behavior which would certainly sabotage his relationship with Finny and other peers. He harbors harsh and strong emotions, which eventually do make themselves clear to the person they belong to. For example, Gene begins a conspiracy against Finny, thinking, Finny had deliberately set out to wreck my studies (53). Even after Finny eventually resolves the complications between himself and Gene, he still falls victim to Gene s latent emotions a short moment after the reconciliation. In a ... How was McDonald s able to achieve the above result? McDonald s children marketing strategies were very simple but extremely effective to give small toys as a treatment to children in order to appeal to their interests. With the repeated uses of this psychological influencing tactic, children would subconsciously make a connection between McDonald s and toys. Therefore, children, who were under the influences of McDonald s marketing strategies, could not help to think of McDonald s whenever thinking of toys. Currently the U.S. legal system is based on a common law system, while Mexico is based on a civil law system. The U.S. and Mexico have substantive and procedural law. Substantive law and procedural law are the two main categories within the law. Substantive law refers to the body of rules that determine the rights and obligations of individuals and collective bodies. Procedural law is the body of legal rules that govern the process for determining the rights of parties (LD). Both countries have a judicial review of legislative acts. Judicial review is a process under which executive and (in some countries) legislative actions are subject to review by the judiciary. The power of courts to assess whether a law is in compliance with the constitution (wiki). In the U.S., the legal system appears to provide everyone with a fair trail as well as safety and security. Before political officials are voted into office, they should be vetted for ties to the local cartels, and not allowed to serve within the government if they have previously worked with the cartels. The policing system in Mexico is as follows: 1. The Federal Police which seem to be concerned primarily with the cartels. They also patrol all the toll roads. Federal Police don t give tickets within the city. 2. The Metro Police who deal with all other non Federal crimes (and also the drug war). Metro Police also don t give traffic tickets. 3. The Transit Police who are responsible for traffic violations within the metro areas. If the Transit Police have higher crime issues to deal with, they call the Metro Police. 4. • 34. Diabetes Mellitus As A Chronic Metabolic Disorder Essay Chapter 23 Diabetes Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that prevents the body to utilise glucose completely or partially. It is characterised by raised glucose concentration in the blood and alterations in carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism. This can be due to failure in the formation of insulin or liberation or action. Since insulin is produced by the p cells of the islets of Langerhans, any receding in the number of functioning cells will decrease the amount of insulin that can be synthesised. Many diabetics can produce sufficient insulin but some stimulus to the islets tissue is needed in order that secretion can take place. During the early stages of the disease, the Insulin Like Activity (ILA) of the blood is often increased, but most of this insulin appears to be bound to protein and is not available for transport across the cell membrane and action of the cell.
