The study explores emerging security risks associated with e-hail taxi services, particularly Uber in Nairobi, Kenya, highlighting that unique risks have arisen alongside traditional taxi dangers. A survey of 400 respondents revealed a majority believe Uber presents significant security threats, such as abductions and carjacking, and feel that current regulatory frameworks are insufficient. Recommendations include reviewing traffic and criminal laws to enhance security measures for app-based services, emphasizing the need for accountable regulations from both government and service providers.
