The paper presents a modified multicasting architecture called MMC-TRACE, designed for mobile ad-hoc networks (MANET) to enhance energy efficiency, quality of service (QoS), and bandwidth efficiency. MMC-TRACE integrates network layer and medium access control (MAC) functionalities, facilitating an active multicast tree with a passive mesh to maximize energy use by controlling node activation states. Performance evaluations show MMC-TRACE surpasses its predecessor, MC-TRACE, in energy efficiency and QoS metrics.
