Viscri is a village in Transylvania, Romania that was originally inhabited by Szekler people and later colonized by Saxons in the 13th century. It is known for its fortified evangelical church built in 1100 AD. The church towers were added in 1525 and defensive walls and passageways were constructed in the 18th century. Today it attracts over 15,000 tourists annually, mostly foreigners, to see the historic buildings and admire the rural scenery. It gained international fame after Prince Charles bought a home there.
