Content Standard:
The learner demonstrates understanding of how world literature and other text types serve
as ways of expressing and resolving personal conflicts, also how to use strategies in linking textual
information, repairing, enhancing communication public speaking, emphasis markers in
persuasive texts, different forms of modals, reflexive and intense pronouns.
Performance Standard:
The learner composes a short but powerful persuasive text using a variety of persuasive
techniques and devices.
Learning Competencies:
The learner demonstrates communicative competence through his/ her understanding of
literature and other texts types for a deeper appreciation of World Literature, including Philippine
Literature.
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the discussion, 85% of the students should be able to:
A. Define analytical listening and its sequential process;
B. gather data and collect information through analytical listening; and
C. use analytical listening and problem solving to solve.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Employ Analytical Listening in Problem Solving
Relevance /Life Experience:
 Develop effective communication to avoid miscommunication and
misinterpretation.

III. PROCEDURE
A. Review:
 Teacher ask students about the last topic which is compare and
contrast.
B. Motivation:
 Students will guess the sounds presented and answer what kind of
person, things or animals produces the sounds. Discuss what students
discover in this kind of game.
C. Lesson Proper
 The topic introduced by presenting the meaning of analytical listening
and elaborate its sequential process.
 Describe the stages of listening and the importance of analytical
listening.
D. Activity
 Students will listen to a music entitle “Anak” by Freddie Aguilar. In
the video presented students will give a moral lesson using the
sequential process of analytical listening.
E. Analysis:
 Illustrate the four steps in solving problem:
1. Define the problems.
2. Generate alternative solutions.
3. Evaluate and select an alternative.
4. Implement and follow up on the solution.
F. Abstraction
 Discuss the types of Listening.
1. Appreciative Listening
2. Emphatic Listening
3. Comprehensive Listening
4. Analytical Listening
G. Application
 Students will watch a short video about “Climate Change”. After
watching students will group into 3. Each group will create a table.
They will identify the problem and probable solution in the problem.

IV. EVALUATION
For short quiz, students will identify the following questions. They will write only the
answer in a 1 whole sheet of paper. Each correct answer contains 2 points.
TEST 1
1. This allow the listener to check himself if he is able to hear clearly the sounds
and other sound points.
2. This constitutes the idea that the understanding of the speaker must be the same
with listener.
3. This allows the listener to critically examine the details of the information heard.
This provides the time for information segregations.
4. This allows the listener to provide verbal/non-verbal feedbacks and responses
based on the listening writers.
5. This allows him to record in his system the information listened to for future
access and use.
6. It serves as one’s response to the identified problem which can be determined by
asking the questions who, what, how, when, where, and why.
7. It deals with the main issue or concern that must be addresses in a particular text.
8. It deals with one’s ability to carefully listen, examine messages, and provide
significant feedbacks or responses.

Directions: Enumerate the steps in solving problem. Write it accordingly. Each
correct answer contains 1 point each.
