A major part of an average Aztec man or woman entertaining area would be the game Tlachlli. This
game would be played, and the results would affect how the future could be. They would play in a
semi big stadium where a rubber ball would be hit with the Aztec players, as they would try to get it
through a hole up on a wall. Goals were extremely rare, but if you did score, you would extremely

I found many interesting facts during this study, and the most interesting fact, which I found was
one of the Aztecs ancient beliefs. The Aztecs said that where they would find an eagle on a cactus
with a snake in its mouth, which is where they would build their city. (Stuart, 69.) They found a

This tremendous city was their home, and in the center they had Pyramids where they would make
their sacrifices for their gods. This city is now what makes the heart of the huge capital of Mexico,

sending out magicians and warlocks hoping that they could harm the Spaniards with their magic, to

They also used causeways to get to the mainland from their floating island. They used the same
pilings that they had used to hold up their temples and other buildings to hold up the causeways that
were sometimes 45 feet wide. Thousands of pilings had to be driven into the lakebed for these

used for the soul purpose of vegetation, situated on swamps and canals. The Aztecs were very
resourceful. Most of their land was swamp and canals, so it was extremely hard to grow food let

Aztecs. Chinampas also saved the capital of the Aztec Empire, Tenochtitlan, from starving. Their
capital alone had a whopping 150,000–200,000 people (Investigating Chinampa Farming). The

This was a very troubling dilemma that chinampas were the solution to. In fact, chinampas produced

Throughout the previous time, pre–European civilizations in the Americas, the Aztec and Inca
empires were separate and distinct civilizations. The two civilizations stayed with no question very
progressed and had their own intricated but very efficient society. Polytheism (who beliefs in
multiple gods) dominated both empires. They adored ideals broadly and fascinatingly, the Sun God
maintained the high place in mutually civilizations. However, both civilizations shared some

When thinking of ancient, urban centers many think of ancient capitals such as Rome, Athens, or
Cairo. However, across the Atlantic Ocean in Central and South America, there were a number of
growing urban centers being built by the Aztec, Mayan, and Incan civilizations. An example of a
Central American urban center is Tenochtitlan. Tenochtitlan was the capital of the ancient Aztec
capital which is located in present–day Mexico–City, Mexico. The development of this ancient city
was dependent on three important factors: favorable ecology, advancing technology, and social

The Aztec civilization is widely regarded as the greatest civilization of the Americas. The
Aztecs' empire covered most of modern day central Mexico and was the most powerful civilization
in the region at the time. They had developed political, religious, and social systems that were very
intricate and important to the culture as a whole. The Aztecs, at the height of their greatness, ruled
5–6 million people and over 500 city–states. However every great civilization in history, including
the Aztecs, have a rise and have a fall. The Aztec Empire fell to the Spaniard's conquest because of
the Aztec's religion, disease, Spanish weaponry, and native alliances. Although the Aztecs have an
unknown origin, by legend they are believed to have originated from the northern part of modern
day Mexico. A nomadic tribe known as the Mexica began migrating to the Valley of Mexico. These
people are what society calls Aztecs today. In A.D. 1325 the Mexica founded the great city of
Tenochtitlan (modern day Mexico City) on the island of Lake Texcoco. Tenochtitlan allied with the
cities of Texcoco and Tacuba to form an alliance against the Tepanec people who were the dominant
people of the region. This alliance was known as the Triple Alliance which was the basis of the
Aztec Empire. The Triple Alliance dominated Central Mexico up until the time of the Spanish
Conquest in 1521.

used it to his advantage, all Cortes really wanted, what he was most driven about was the gold the
Aztecs had in their power. Gold was Cortes motivation, he wanted all the gold he could find nothing
was enough if he didn't have gold. "When the fighting ended, Cortes demanded the gold his men had
abandoned in the Canal of the Toltecs during the Night if Sorrows" (B.S. 120). "The Aztecs
unloaded it from the canoes: there were bars of gold, gold crowns, gold ornaments for the arms and
legs, gold helmets and disks of gold" (B.S. 120). "Cortes said: "Is this all the gold in the city? You
must bring me all of it" (B.S. 120).
The man who faced Cortes was Motecuhzoma, the ruler the priest. Motecuhzoma who was the
Aztec emperor of Mexico foolishly believed that Cortes was in deed a god. Motecuhzoma feared the
god's arrival and when Cortes arrived to Mexico City he opened the doors to him and the rest of the
Spaniards.
