AUDIENCE RESEARCH
FOCUS GROUP
From the research we collated throughout the whole focus group, we
discovered that women prefer bright colours and pictures and say they
attract them to read a magazine. With this information we’re able to
adapt our magazine and add lots of color and ‘striking’ pictures to
appear more appealing to our audience. We also discovered what topic
people are more likely to want to read about, the results were make up
and fashion. This is stereotypical for a women’s magazine, asking this
question really helped to discover the main topics women like to read
about. However not all women are appealed to fashion and make-up so
we should also focus on something else rather than the stereotypical
women’s topics
QUESTIONNAIRE
• From the questionnaire we asked we discovered that people would
also like to read about things such as “places to go” and “lifestyle”
this is vital information because it enables us to adapt out magazine
articles to fit what people prefer to read about. We also discovered
that women prefer to see women on the magazine apposed to men.
All the questions we asked will help us to conduct a magazine that is
both appealing and interesting to women of all ages.
AUDIENCE PROFILE
Demographics; Our target audience would be placed in the D/E section, this is
because the age is 17+ most will either be in full time education or at university,
possibly unemployed or in semi-skilled work. This information means in our
magazine articles we could add sections about work and school life, but also as
the age is very wide it is important you’re also attracting the older generation as
well. So having sections in the contents page such as “gardening” or something
that is more appealing to an older person.
CONCLUSION
• With all the research we have collected we’re able to
design a magazine that is appealing to our target
audience, this will make the magazine more successful
and realistic, we also discovered that women like color
schemes to match so in our billboard, magazine and
magazine website we will use a similar color scheme.
