ACTIVITY 6
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
Throughout the creation process of our film ‘Steeze’
we have learnt to use various types of technologies
and computer programmes. The search engine
Google was particularly helpful in the process of
constructing our film especially for research.
Constructing ‘Steeze’ was
my first opportunity to use
a video camera on a tripod.
We used a Sony Handycam
which was a suitable size
and weight for us as we
filmed in various locations.
To begin with I found
filming stable shots more
complex than I would have
hoped but after some
practice panning and
zooming in it became
easier and I was able to get
good and stable footage
whilst the camera was on
the tripod.
For my blog I used ‘blogger’ which I was also new to. I was
able to adapt to it quite quickly and altered the layout and
background to suit the genre of my movie. I learnt how to
upload images, hyperlinks and videos to my blog.
Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 is the programme I used to edit
our clips and eventually combine them together to make
them in sync and add titles where needed. Also to add
various effects such as black and white, fades (dissolving)
and blurs.
Getting the font, font size and positioning of the titles right and then
getting the duration of the titles in sync with the music was tricky but
after some practice I mastered it. At first I used the ‘crawl’ effect for
the titles but during the production process I decided that I preferred
the video without it. I decided to make each of the titles 3 seconds
long so that they were displayed long enough for the audience to read
but short enough to keep them engaged.
I used a presentation software called ‘Prezi’ to make my use
of technology more diverse. I felt that it added more to my
blog as I was using PowerPoint over and over again. I
incorporated images into my presentation to illustrate my
ideas and drew frames around each different slide.
I uploaded my PowerPoint presentations to
http://www.slideshare.net/ so that I could post a link to
my blog that links to the PowerPoint.
I use YouTube almost everyday but after constructing my
opening sequence I made a channel in order to upload
my video and also make annotations. When uploading my
video, I first had to wait for my video to render before
adding annotations.
