Hugo Huurdeman presented on using 3D reconstructions as entry points for exploring historical data. He discussed two case studies: (1) visualizing the 17th century Amsterdam interior of Pieter de Graeff and Jacoba Bicker based on archival sources, and (2) visualizing a 1919 radio to showcase how it worked using an interactive 3D model. Huurdeman explained how 3D applications can provide both analytical overviews and immersive experiences for researching interiors and contextual data. User studies will evaluate prototypes of the 3D interfaces developed by the Virtual Interiors project.
