The confirmed event schedule is as follows:
08:00 – 08:30 Team arrival & Registration
08:45 – 09:45 Pit Display booth set up
10:00 – 10:30 Teams welcome briefing (auditorium area)
10:30 – 11:30 Judging and racing commences (3 x 20min judging slots)
11:30 – 11:50 Morning Break
11:50 - 13:10 Judging and racing continues (4 x 20min judging slots)
13:10 – 14:00 Lunch Break
13:30 - 13:50 Group Photo - Start / Finish Straight
14:00 - 15:20 Judging and racing continues (4 x 20min judging slots)

2. Judging Schedule
The judging timetable / rotation will be provided to teams at event registration on your competition
day.
3. Terms and Conditions for Participation
The terms and conditions for participating in the National Final are provided as a separate
attachment with this newsletter. The supervising teacher MUST submit this document at team
registration on the competition day.
4. Team Arrival and Parking Arrangements
On arrival at Yas Marina circuit please follow these instructions:
 Enter via Gate 20 and follow directional signage to the Media Centre, maps attached
 It is imperative the Vehicle Access Permit supplied along with this newsletter is displayed in
the windscreen of your Team Bus/Van on arrival to YMC, no permit no entry to the unloading
area.
 Team vehicles will be directed to Media Centre unloading area, please be ready for a quick
unloading to avoid congestions and delays with your setup.
 Once parked, the team manager and lead teacher ONLY should make their way to the Media
Centre 1

floor reception to register the team. Other team members should commence unload
and moving of team assets into the media centre as directed by our staff.
 Teams are to just place all of their assets in front of their allocated booth and wait for set-up
commencement to be announced at 08:45am
 Please note the display setup is on the first floor, the main access is via a stairwell which has
a restriction of 1.7m wide alternatively for heavy equipment there is a small service lift 1.25m
x 1.25m and max load of 700kg
 Due to the number of teams competing, we anticipate congestion and ask all teams to respect
others during the load in and set-up time frame.
5. Event Registration
Only the team manager and supervising teacher are to attend. An event registration desk for
teams operating from 08:00am will be located in Media Centre reception on Level 1. During
registration the Terms and Conditions for Participation must be handed in. Each team will be
supplied with event resources including judging schedule, team accreditation passes, lunch
tokens and other relevant documents. During registration the team’s back-up car and design
portfolio will be returned for their display and presentation purposes. The nominated race car
will remain with the organisers in parc ferme status until each teams scheduled race time.
Scrutineering judging will have occurred pre-event and during event registration teams will be
informed about any critical technical regulation infringements that may have been judged by the
scrutineers. There will be no opportunity to protest or dispute any such rulings at this time.
The team manager will be asked to identify the race car and its weight will be checked. The F1 in
Schools logo decal will be supplied for fixing to the cars.

6. Scrutineering Protests
Any protest or appeal around a Technical Regulation infringement decision should be made in
accordance with the Competition Regulations. Please remember that unsuccessful protests may
incur a penalty. All protests must be submitted by 15:00hrs on competition day.
7. Team List and Competition Number
A full list of all competing teams is provided with this newsletter. A ballot was held in the offices of
Yas Marina Circuit to determine team competition numbers. Your team number correlates to the
Pit Display booth numbers as shown on the floor plan included with this newsletter.
8. Health and safety
Abu Dhabi Motorsport Management, operators of Yas Marina Circuit have asked that teachers
familiarise themselves with the Code of Practice for Contractors, Organisers and Exhibitors which
has been supplied with this newsletter.
9. Venue layout
A floor plan showing the competition venue layout and display booth location by number has also
been supplied. Use this floor plan along with the team list detail to locate your booth upon arrival.
10. Pit display setup
Pit display setup will commence for all teams at 08:45am. A reminder to read the advice regarding
this previously provided in Newsletter 1, along with information regarding pit display setup within
the Competition Regulations. Any equipment required for your setup is the responsibility of each
team i.e. trolleys, step-ladders, scissors, blue tac, extension cables etc. There should be no
standing on chairs / desks etc. if needed, please bring a small step ladder.
11. Teachers F1 in Schools Pit Stop Challenge!
We can’t let the students have all of the fun. So, this year Yas Marina Circuit presents again the
only Teachers F1 in Schools Pit Stop Challenge in the world! Get your own school team together
now, and get ready to see how close you can get to the 2.0 sec record of the Infiniti Red Bull
Racing Formula One Team. Your team must consist of 3 teachers. You can join and form a team
with other interested teachers on the day. The challenge will run from approximately 15:30 –
16:30pm. Demonstration, full instruction and related safety will be provided on the day.
12. YMC facility tours
As part of the their F1 in Schools National Final experience, all participants will be given a guided
behind the scenes tour of some of the most exclusive areas in the Formula One™ Paddock. This
will include the Formula One™ winner’s podium, Race Control, Formula One™ garages and
Team Villas. Tour times will feature on the Judging timetable.
13. Team guests / National Final Visitors
Please provide your team guests with the transport maps provided with this newsletter. Guest
parking will be clearly sign posted and available in the gold parking area adjacent to the main
grandstand. Guests will then take the pedestrian tunnel access to the Media Centre which is sign
posted from the car park. Guests will not need a parking or vehicle pass.
If you haven’t already done so, please send me the number of guests you would like to have
attend for each of your teams.

14. Verbal Presentation time limits
A reminder of the verbal presentation time limits:
 Bloodhound – 5 minutes
 F1 in Schools Rookie Category – 8 minutes
 F1 in Schools Professional Category – 8 minutes
15. Chair of Judges
The 2014 F1 in Schools UAE National Final Chair of Judges will be Mr Jon Fagg from F1 in
Schools Ltd. Head Office in London. We are very lucky to have Jon in this capacity bringing a
wealth of experience in performing competition management and official roles at National and F1
in Schools World Finals events for many years.
16. Social Media Competition

We know you are all excited for the F1 in Schools UAE National Finals, so Yas Marina Circuit has
decided to give away a few extra gifts to make your journey even more memorable on social

17. WIFI Internet Access
A public WiFi with internet access will be available within the competition venue and details will be
provided at event registration.
18. Winning Teams Podium Photograph Session
The overall champion Professional Category team will be required to be at Yas Marina Circuit by
1700 hrs on Monday May 12 for a photo session on the Yas Marina Circuit Formula One
®
winners
podium. This session should be finished by 1745.

Winning Teams Podium Photograph Session The overall champion Professional Category team will be required to be at Yas Marina Circuit by 1700 hrs on Monday May 12 for a photo session on the Yas Marina Circuit Formula One ® winners podium. This session should be finished by 1745.
