MID SHOT - HAND HELD - TRACKING
Walking behind Harold
Early morning, sun is just coming up. Its a bit chilly as
the trees are swaying. Harold is walking out his house
towards the car. (Harold's on the right hand side of the
shot, and has his back towards the camera.)
INTERVIEWER
Who was the first his first
girlfriend?
HAROLD
Walking forward, turns his head around at looks back to the
interviewer.
how am I suppose to know
Casual laugh
That was a long time ago, I cant
remember
2- EXT. HAROLD'S DRIVE WAY
WS - CAMERA 1 - TRIPOD
The sky is slowly getting brighter, and there is a slight
morning breeze as the the trees are russeling. There's other
cars parked on the side of the road as Harold pulls out of
his drive way with his house in the background.
2- EXT. THE END OF HAROLD DRIVE WAY - MORNING
CRASH IN - CAMERA 1 - TRIPOD - PULL FOCUS
Everything in the background from the house, to the trees,
to the other cars parked fade out as Harold drives towards
the camera.
INTERVIEWER
So how long have you and your wife
been together?
HAROLD
We've been married for 18 years
now, but we dated 3 years and
engaged for 2 years.
2
INTERVIEWER (NOT TO BE HEARD)
Where did you guys meet?
HAROLD
CU- HAND HELD
Slight smile appears on his face.
We went to the same high school,
didn't really talk in the beginning
until her family moved in next door
from us. We also knew each other
from youth club that was every
friday.
INTERVIEWER - (NOT TO BE HEARD)
What was your first thought when
you saw her?
HAROLD
The first time I thought this one
right here, she has to be the
future Mrs.Saptou. But you know in
front of my friend i couldn't be
all mooshie otherwise they'll start
making fun so I had to be like
fellas check out those legs
INTERVIEWER - NOT TO BE HEARD
Did she ever notice you?
HAROLD
But she didn't notice me in the
sense of being more then fiends
because she wasn't like the other
girl that had boyfriends in the
past she was more focused in school
then boys which I liked about her.
She had her head on straight. which
made it harder to play games.
Laughing
INTERVIEWER (NOT TO BE HEARD)
Was there any other guys interested
in Leonora while you was?
HAROLD
Unfortunately I wasn't the only one
trying to ask Leonora out there was
other guys interested in her as
well

CU - HAND HELD - FOCUS

MS TALKING HEAD- HAND HELD - ZOOM OUT
But she wasn't interested in them
either.
INTERVIEWER
How many times did you ask her out
before she said yes?
HAROLD
I took me 2 years of making my self
worthy for her to say yes. She
wanted a guy that had morals,
standards, and goals also a
christian. Even though it was hard
to change I did, and i went back
and asked her again 'will you be my
girlfriend' - now take in mind
she's seen my progression- to that
her answer was 'I don't want you to
change for me, I want you to be the
best you can be...' short story it
short it was another no.

thought this is going to be my last

I'm still trying to get the same

asked again and she finally said
yes.

HAROLD
During the time I was trying to
grow as a person I forgot who I was
doing it for and I saw her one day
in church and it felt like the
first time i saw her again and that
when I asked her for the final time
INTERVIEWER
When you she finally became you
girlfriend did both of your
family's know you where dating?
HAROLD
They didn't know at first but they
started suspecting something was
happening between them, in our
culture before dating someone's
daughter you had to ask the farther
and I didn't but she knew that and
still said yes.
Facial expression drop to more of a serious face
CU ON HIS FACE - HAND HELD - ZOOM
When her mother found out I was in
trouble she chased me down the road
and told me the next time you ask
Leonora out you better ask!
INTERVIEWER
Did you ever get her in trouble?
HAROLD
Because of that Leonora also got in
MID SHOT - HAND HELD - ZOOM OUT

trouble she got hiding with a
broom, that's why i ran i didn't
want a beating to
Laughs
INTERVIEWER
Did you ever think she was the one?
5
HAROLD
I defiantly thought she was the one
after putting me through 2 years of
waiting around - which was done
with best intension at heart, which
most girl didn't do at the time
they just wanted and expected stuff
from me
INTERVIEWER
Tell us the story of how you two
got married?
HAROLD
When she finally said yes second
time round when I proposed - this
time I did go and ask for
permission. After the 2 years of
being engaged it came to the
wedding. And... She had me waiting
at the alter thinking she wasn't
going to come for 2 hours
Shakes his head
So I had my friends messing around
saying she changed her mind she not
coming. I had the vicar trying to
clam me by saying 'don't worry she
will come, but you must of done
something wrong if she's this late'
casually laughing which didn't
help.

INT. LEONORA AND HAROLD'S HOUSE - EVENING
Living room is fairly average size, it quite light and airy,
however since it gets later into the evening the only light
source is the ceiling lights. The room includes two beige
sofas with one dark brown lazy boy chair in-between the
6
sofas. Meanwhile Leonora is siting on the sofa nearest the
door on her laptop. - talking head [MS]
INTERVIEWER (NOT TO BE HEARD)
How was your up bring as a child?
LEONORA
My bring up as a child has been a
testimony from not having a house
to live in, to having one. Not
having enough money for clothes had
to have hand me downs. Although it
was rough we always made the most
of it.
CU ON HER FACE - TRIPOD - FOCUS
Looks down, starts speaking softly and pauses.
(CONT'D)
When I was growing up I didn't know
my dad, I had step dads but never
saw them as farther figures, they
were fine when they=y were sober
its when they became drunk they be
came aggressive and abusive to both
my mum and her children.
She pauses again, and looks up, she has a slight smile of
relief but says it with so much pain.
The only saving grace for a male
figure was my grandfather
unfortunately he passed away before
my 10th birthday.
INTERVIEWER (NOT TO BE HEARD)
Did that effect how you saw
relationships?
LEONORA
After seeing what my mum went
through I never wanted to
experience that, so I blocked out
every man that tried anything so
that no one could hurt me the same
way ever again.
INTERVIEWER (NOT TO BE HEARD)
How was it like on the playgrounds?
7
LEONORA
I was mostly friends with the guys
just because the girls always had
to argue over things and they were
to intense for me. However as you
start becoming a young lady you
body matured so I wasn't one of the
guys no more. Which changed my
friendship because they saw me as
girlfriend material rather than a
friend.
INTERVIEWER (NOT TO BE HEARD)
How you girl friend take this you
getting all the attention?
LEONORA
Some of the girls I hung out with
started acting up and got, but I
told them I wasn't interested and
my girl friends that stuck around
were my true friends.
INTERVIEWER (NOT TO BE HEARD)
Why was it so important or why did
you feel that you shouldn't give
any of these guys a chance?
LEONORA
Because of my child hood and
looking from the outside into the
relationship my mother and my 3
step dads I never wanted a guy to
treat me like that, or feel
vulnerable.
INTERVIEWER (NOT TO BE HEARD)
So how old was you when you started
taking interest in guys?
LEONORA
After I finished college so I
defiantly started to think about it
more. I was 18 when I started
dating harold. that the first time
I properly dated someone there was
only one incident where a guy asked
me out and I said yes to get him of
my back but I told him not shortly

you ever think he was the one?
LEONORA
After making him wait so long
before I said yes to become his
girlfriend, if he waited that long
for me why not say this will last.
I defiantly went into it think
about the future. Could I see
myself married to this guy. Yes.
INTERVIEWER (NOT TO BE HEARD)
Did you guys ever have fall outs
through your dating period?
LEONORA
There was one time where we went on
a break for a month but it was
defiantly over something big

LEONORA
There was Harold professor that
kept buying me chocolates and
flowers that I wasn't even bothered
with all the gift I ended up giving
them away. He couldn't believe I
dated or was on a break with Harold
as he was still in college and I

LEONORA
After 3 years of dating he proposed
and now I didn't know that he was
going to propose cause its the
custom in our culture is to ask the
farther for hand in marriage . In
this case without me knowing he
apparently went to my mum with a
bunch of flowers and was nervous to
even come in the house and ask so
he stood out side.
