How will I be graded? You will be doing all work in your  I nteractive  S cience  J ournal ( ISJ ) All assignments will be given a point value Your grade on an assignment will be the number of points you earned divided by the total possible points For example, a homework assignment may be worth 10 points, and you may earn 8 points.  Your grade for that assignment will be 8/10, from which you can calculate a percentage.

Guideline #1 Be in your assigned seat and working on the assigned bell work when the tardy bell rings.

Guideline #4 Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
Guideline #5 Follow  all  school procedures and policies outlined in the front of your planner.

Day Two.
Following  Guidelines will result in: Verbal acknowledgement. A stress free learning environment. A pleasant and orderly classroom atmosphere.
Not  following Guidelines will result in: 1st  = Warning and documentation. 2nd   =  Infraction notice , bounce to a new seat 3rd  = Bounce from the room and disciplinary referral 4 th  = Removal from room with administrator and disciplinary referral Parental contact will occur after the first step!
Severe Clause: Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (including the property of the teacher and other students), or is strongly disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be IMMEDIATELY removed by an administrator.
Guideline Infraction Notice: Read It. Sign It. Keep it until the end of class.

Classroom Procedures.
Entering the Classroom: Please enter quietly. Sit in your assigned seat. Take out your materials. Begin bellwork procedures.
When you are tardy: Enter quietly. Excused :  Place note in the basket on the side table. Unexcused :  Sign the lunch detention list at the side of the room. Sit in your assigned seat and take out materials.
Getting Your Attention: I will= Stand in front of the class. Raise my hand and count to 5 with my fingers. Wait for everyone to stop talking, raise their hands, and put eyes on me.
Absences: Go to the “While you were out board” Retrieve any handouts Check the example ISJ to see where things go If you need clarification or explanation, ask your teacher before or after class, or during a break.
Missing Work: Personal Responsibility Report= Fill it out. Sign and date it. Turn it in with homework papers.
Personal Responsibility Report: Stop.
Late Passes Work is to be done and turned in on time BUT, everyone has a bad day. SO, you will receive 4 late passes that can be used to turn in Science assignments late. The teacher may exclude certain assignments from late pass use
Leaving the Room Bathroom Fill out the passport section in your planner Raise your hand with 1 finger up I will speak with you privately Sign out on the clipboard Sign back in when you return Other You must ask permission to leave the room and you must have your passport in your planner filled out
Day Three.
Finishing Classwork Early: Read a book – yours or from the classroom library Work on homework. Update your ISJ. Work on MOS
Scheduled Checkout: Please let me know as you enter the classroom  (I should be at the door). Quietly raise your hand when it’s time to leave and get my attention. Pack your materials and leave at the scheduled time. If it is an emergency, quickly get my attention and I will assist you.
Handing in Papers: Place your paper on the person’s desk on your right side. If/when you receive a paper, place yours on top and continue passing the stack to your right. I will come by and collect all stacks.
Classroom Discussions: Please participate. Raise your hand before speaking unless instructions have been given otherwise. I  want  to hear what you have to say. Make questions and comments  relevant  to the current discussion. If your question is off topic write it down and ask later.
Moving Around the Room: You must ask permission. Do not ask during a classroom discussion unless it is an emergency.
Sharpening Pencils If you find your pencil needs sharpening: Be respectful of teaching time – determine if it is a good time to get up Bring your pencil back to the student supply area Exchange it for a sharpened pencil and put your dull pencil in the appropriate container If you have a special pencil that you want to keep, remember to trade back at the end of class
Class Dismissal: The teacher dismisses you, not the bell. Do not start packing up before the bell. Wait until the teacher is finished and officially dismisses you with: “ Have a lovely day!”
“ Special”  Procedures: Library/Media Center. Distance Learning Lab/Video Conference. Special Guests. Progress Reports. Working Cooperatively. Intercom Announcement. Fire Drill Assemblies Substitute teacher These will be introduced on an ‘as needed’ basis.
