- 10. I4MS initiative WHAT IS I4MS? ▪ I4MS (ICT Innovation for Manufacturing SMEs) is the initiative promoted by the European Commission to foster the digital innovation of manufacturing SMEs in Europe in order to boost their competitiveness in the digital era. 9

I4MS achievements so far • 29 member states and associated countries involved • €110 million in phase 1 and 2, out of €26 million distributed to SMEs and mid-caps in 15 calls • €34 million funding allocated to phase 3 (2017 – 2020) • 84% of the industrial partners are SMEs and mid-caps out of which around 65% had never participated in EU research and innovation programme before • 195 experiments have already been started and almost 70 experiments have already been launched • 70% of the experiments have a relevant European dimension 14
- 16. 15 DIHs: supporting structures to facilitate digital transformation • Provide support to start-ups, SMEs and mid-caps in managing their digital transformation. • Competence Centres are at the core of DIHs; • Variable geometries: technology applications, sectors, SME focus, etc. • Different service portfolios offers. • Single organisations to multi- partners cooperation.
- 17. Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) Innovation Actions under the I4MS initiative bring SMEs, in contact with Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH).
