72 Conclusions Football Transfer Review Brasil (1 de 3)  Brazilian club football is becoming stronger than ever with 2 digit revenue growth and increased player purchase power. Spending in new players has increased 61% in 2010 to 79mio$  Palmeiras has spent 24,2mio$ in new players (31% of total spending) which did not help to achieve good sporting results. Top 3 spending ranking is completed by Atlético Mineiro and Cruzeiro  Jorge Valdivia return from Al-Ain to Palmeiras is the highest spending signing at 8,3mio$  Increased purchase power has permitted Brazilian clubs to bring back success Brazilian players in Europe such as Deco, Cicinho or Belletti.  Atlético Mineiro, Guaraní and Palmeiras are the teams with highest number of new players. Corinthians and Sao Paulo, the teams with least squad renewal  Total player sales from Brasileirao Serie A teams was up 18% to 170mio$. Internacional has been the highest selling team with a total player sales value of 38mio$, followed by Sao Paulo (30mio$). Average cost per player was up 61% to 220k$
73  Brazilian football has a high player rotation that does not help teams to achieve stability and control costs. Such rotation is above top 5 European leagues  Palmeiras gets confirmed as the team with most changes, as it also leads the ranking of number of exits (23). Santos, Botafogo and Vasco de Gama, the teams with least player exits  As opposed to what happened in all tope European leagues, Brasileirao has experimented a net increase in the number of players in the squads  Despite still being #1 players provider in the world, Brazilian football exports have stopped increasing in the last years. European football financial constraints suggests that Brazilian clubs – Number of players that left Brazil in 2009 was down 14% to 1,017 – Total value of player exports was down 25% to 177mio$ – 75% of exports value is concentrated in Europe – Portugal is the country with more Brazilian players (154 just in Sagres Liga) – Hernanes move fro Sao Paulo to Lazio was the most expensive of the season at 19mio$ – Brazil exports more players to Europe than Argentina (except in Spain and Italy) – Internacional (175) and Sao Paulo (112) have sold players for 287mio$ over the last 6 years Conclusions Football Transfer Review Brasil (2 de 3)

Santos has the youngest squad (22,9) and the highest number of U21 players (18) – Sao Paulo has the most stable squad (average 2,7 years stay per player). Gremio Prudente the least (1,1 years) – Santos has the highest number of home grown players (14), followed by Sao Paulo (13). Ceara and Atl. Goianense have only 1 each – Only 4,7% of players in Brasileirao serie A squads are not originally from Brasil. % of foreigners is much higher in European leagues (ie Premier League 64,4%)  The analysis of managers information included in the study reveals that Brazilian executives are much less patient than their European colleagues: – None of Brasileirao Serie A managers has been in the post for more than 1 year.
