Forgotten God A Real Relationship
When we are at our wits’ end for an answer, then the Holy Spirit can give us an answer. But how can He give us an answer when we are still well supplied with all sorts of answers of our own? Karl Barth
Insecurity Nothing worse than living in insecurity Fear Uncertainty Where do I stand with God? Nothing better than being absolutely sure that the most powerful Being in the universe adores you as His own child The Holy Spirit offers us that confidence
Insecurity “ Living faithfully” and “serving God” “ Trying Harder” “ Doing better next time” The Holy Spirit diverts us from this path Allows us to enjoy: Intimacy Security Encouragement We can then serve God as a beloved child instead of a guilt-ridden slave
Being Known But now that you know God—or rather are known by God—how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? Galatians 4:9
Known By God Imagine God saying: I know (your name here) Many say that they are children of God – but… Are they empty words? Do you know Him? Are you known by Him?
Holy Spirit Assurance Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father." So you are no longer slaves, but God's children; and since you are his children, he has made you also heirs. Galatians 4:6-7
Holy Spirit Assurance He assures us of our right standing with God He assures us of God’s love for us He assures believers of the gift of new life in Christ He assures us we have nothing to fear because We are His children He is powerful We are accepted, fully and unconditionally
Romans 8:15-17 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Well, I just don’t experience that kind of intimacy with God…my spirit never cries our Abba, Father.
