Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist born in 1907 who is known for her many self-portraits, often including animals, as she loved animals like children due to being unable to have children of her own. She had polio as a child and survived a serious traffic accident, spending much time bedridden where she learned to paint self-portraits. She was married to the famous Mexican muralist Diego Rivera but remained childless, finding companionship in animals instead.

- 2. Frida Kahlo was born in Mexico in 1907. As a child, Kahlo had suffered from polio and then survived a serious streetcar accident. That was very difficult for her. But she was very brave and used her time in bed in a cast to become very good at self-portraits.

Some of Frida’s friends said that she loved animals as if they were her own children. All in all Frida Kahlo painted close to 200 self-portraits. Many of them with animals.
