Podcast a personal
    goal for this year
Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors:
What goal do you have for yourself this year? Is it academic? Athletic?
Professional? Social? Be specific about something you’d like to achieve for the year.
We have a way better chance of reaching a goal if we define it, write about it and
then share it with others.
Write approximately 150 words outlining your goal, how you plan on getting there
and/or why it’s important to you; your podcast should be at least 30 seconds long.
Seniors:
Look at the planning wheel you’ve created for your SLE proposal. Use the
information in the wheel to write approximately 150 words explaining your SLE
and what inspired you to choose it.
After you’ve written out your goal and gone over it with your teacher,
it’s time to podcast it using GarageBand...the following slides will
explain how to do this.
PRIZES WILL BE
AWARDED TO THE
MOST THOUGHTFUL
AND PROFESSIONAL
SOUNDING PODCASTS
1. Open up GarageBand and choose “podcast”

Hint: if you already know how to
podcast try helping others in the
      class
Name your podcast: yourname:2013goal
or if you are a senior: yourname:SLE
Select “male” or “female” voice beneath “podcast track”
To begin recording click on red record button

Now, read your “goal 2013” or “SLE”
paragraph aloud; do several takes until you
get a good, clean recording without any
stuttering or awkward pauses

press the space bar to stop recording
Click “show loop browser”

                     listen to some jingles/effects
                     that fit with your recording
Drag the jingle you want into the
“jingles” track

make sure “ducking” is selected under
“control”
Try splitting your voice track...

This allows music to fill the
space for a nice pause effect

Hint: you must select
track by clicking on it
before splitting
Want to add an episode picture or artwork?

                                               Hint:
                                           Garage Band
                                          has a great help
                                                tab

Open up “Media Browser” select “Photos” and drag the
desired photo to “episode artwork”
Play back podcast and edit tracks
until you are happy with the result

Now, share it to Itunes ( this saves the
podcast as a file in your Itunes library)
It will look like
  this in your
   library....

Now you are ready to showcase it in your
English class and let everyone know what your
goal is...sharing your goal is one step closer to
 achieving it!
