about Google
Google’s Mission: Organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”
Google Philosophy Focus on the user and all else will follow. Its best to do one thing really, really well. Fast is better than slow. Democracy on the web works. You don’t need to be at your desk to need an answer.
Google Philosophy You can make money without doing evil. There’s always more information out there. The need for information crosses all borders. You can be serious without a suit. Great isn’t just good enough.
Applied to Learning Focus on the student and all else will follow Its best to teach a few things really, really well. Fast is better than slow. Democracy in the classroom works. You don’t need to be at school to need an answer.
Applied to Learning You can TEACH without doing evil. There’s always more information out there. The need for information crosses all borders. You can be serious without a suit. Great isn’t just good enough.

I saved it… … .somewhere
"There's a way I can use word, do a spreadsheet or create a presentation and save it online?" Google Docs Rock
CLOUD COMPUTING Everything in Google Docs is “stored” in the clouds!

First session: Share and collaborate with your students Prove concept of shared workspace and live updating . Google Spreadsheet 50
Share pulse rate data, use a single shared spreadsheet for the whole class. Add student's names in the first few columns. Add Pulse Rate 1, Pulse Rate 2 ...along the column headings. When exploring resting pulse rate or pulse rate change ask the whole class to add their data at the same time. Pooled data could then be analyzed, averaged, charted and explored. The sharing of data from peers helps students to think about the accuracy and reliability of science data and to deal with a larger data set quickly. Google Spreadsheet 50
Share and collaborate with your students Ask your class to individually work and finish the sentence: " I am Unique because...“ they add 3 different answers. Not only will you learn about your students, but as it is shared they will learn about each other. Google Docs 10
Use a Table in a Document to facilitate collaboration Unlike Spreadsheets with cells and Presentations with pages, Documents are an open space, and can sometimes exacerbate communication problems when collaborating . Consider a TABLE when you are working in large numbers in a Document. Adds structure to a page by adding a TABLE or simple headings to where people are working.
Share and collaborate with your students Group unique features from docs together and share. Google Presentation 10

Editor's Notes

  • #2 A googol of tools would be a digit 1 with one hundred zeros…we don’t have enough time!
  • #3 A gaggle of geese is a group of geese on the ground, if they were in the air, it would be called a skein of geese
