This document discusses using emergy analysis to assess the sustainability of the proposed Nagpur metro system in India. It begins with background on metro systems and discusses sustainability indicators and emergy analysis methodology. It then provides the specific equations for calculating emergy yield ratio (EmYR), environmental loading ratio (ELR), and emergy sustainability index (EmSI). Limiting values for these ratios are also presented to evaluate the sustainability. The methodology is proposed to assess the sustainability of the Nagpur metro as a case study using these emergy consumption indicators.
