GIVING TO GOD
TEXT: 1 CHRONICLE 29:5-13
1
GIVING TO GOD
Psalms 116:12
“What shall I give unto God for all his
benefits to me?”
2
GIVING TO GOD
1 JOHN 3:1-3
‘See how very much our Father loves us, for
he calls us his children, and that is what
we are! … but he has not yet shown us
what we will be like when Christ appears.
But we do know that we will be like him,
for we will see him as he really is. 3
And all
who have this eager expectation will
keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.’
3
GIVING TO GOD
1 Chronicles 29:1
‘Then King David said to the whole
assembly: “My son Solomon, the one
whom God has chosen, is young and
inexperienced, the task is great, because
this palatial structure is not for man but
for the Lord God.”’
4
GIVING TO GOD

10
GIVING TO GOD
2 Corinthians 8:1-5
And now, brothers, we want you to know about
the grace that God has given the Macedonian
churches. 2
Out of the most severe trial, their
overflowing joy and their extreme poverty
welled up in rich generosity…
11
GIVING TO GOD
2 Corinthians 8:1-5
…3
For I testify that they gave as much as they
were able, and even beyond their ability.
Entirely on their own, 4
they urgently pleaded
with us for the privilege of sharing in this
service to the saints. 5
And they did not do as
we expected, but they gave themselves first to
the Lord and then to us in keeping with God’s
will.
12
GIVING TO GOD
V6…. “gave willingly”
V9… “people rejoiced at the willing response”
V9… “they had given freely and wholeheartedly”
13
GIVING TO GOD
2 Corinthians 8:12
“For if the willingness is there, the gift is
acceptable according to what one has, not
according to what he does not have.”
14
GIVING TO GOD
2 Corinthians 9:2
“For I know your eagerness to help, and I have
been boasting about it to the Macedonians,
telling them that since last year you in Achaia
were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has
stirred most of them to action.”
15
GIVING TO GOD
2 Corinthians 9:7
“Each man should give what he has decided in
his heart to give, not reluctantly or under
compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
16
GIVING TO GOD
1 Chronicles 29:9

their leaders, for they had given freely and
wholeheartedly to the Lord. David the king

17

10
David praised the LORD in the presence of the
whole assembly, saying, “Praise be to you, O
LORD, God of our father Israel, from
everlasting to everlasting. 11
Yours, O LORD, is
the greatness and the power and the glory
and the majesty and the splendour, for
everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours,
O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as
head over all…
18
GIVING TO GOD
1 Chronicles 29:10-13
…12
Wealth and honor come from you; you are
the ruler of all things. In your hands are
strength and power to exalt and give strength
to all. 13

praise your glorious name.
19
