FACTS AND FIGURES

Australia is the sixth largest country in the world - more or less the same size as USA.
However it also has the lowest population density in the world, with only two people per
square kilometer.
Australia is politically divided into six states and two territories, each one offering a
different experience for the traveller. Gold Coast falls in the state of Queensland.
Time: Australia is divided into three time zones. Eastern is GMT +10, Central is GMT
+9.5, and Western is GMT +8.
Other than the Northern Territory and Western Australia, all states observe daylight
saving time in summer.
Electricity: Electrical current is 240/250 volts AC, 50Hz. Three-pin plugs are used but
are different to those in most other countries.

GOLD COAST

The Gold Coast is a vibrant region that is famous for its stunning
beaches and subtropical rainforests. Uninterrupted coastline has thirtyfive golden beaches. Children stare in wide-eyed wonder while
experiencing Dreamworld, Seaworld, Movieworld and Wet n Wild
theme parks. The line-up is just as big for adults and includes live stage
shows, theatre restaurants, nightclubs, balloon rides, cruises, deepsea fishing and horse racing.
Sensational shopping is to be found on the Gold Coast. Resort
shopping villages, variety packed centres, designer boutiques, elegant
arcades plus art and craft markets can all be found.

CLIMATE

The Gold Coast climate is subtropical as it borders on the
Tropic of Capricorn. Although modified by sea breezes
along the coast, it still experiences high humidity from
November to March. It has a hot and humid climate,
particularly in summer, but winters are mild and sunny with
cool nights (July and August) The best time to visit the
northern part of the state is from September to November.
