The document presents a grid-based priority routing (GBPR) protocol designed for underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) that utilizes a 3D logical grid view for efficient data delivery to sink nodes. GBPR classifies neighboring cells based on their distance to the sink, allowing for prioritized selection of data forwarders, which enhances energy efficiency, reduces end-to-end delay, and increases reliability. Simulation results show that GBPR outperforms existing protocols in key performance metrics such as energy efficiency and packet delivery ratio.
