  HOW LIBRARIANS/ ARCHIVISTSCAN HELP What we already do at Davidson  Provide a LibGuide/ landing page for library resources What other institutions are doing  Embedded Librarians on study abroad  Pre-departure information sessions and trainings  Establish relationships with program directors/ faculty

  BUT… WHY? Whydo students go on study abroad?  Language acquisition  Oppor tunity to live in a foreign country  Better understand global issues or specific local ones  Enhance CV's and job prospects  Personal growth (develop leadership skills, learn to adapt to change, etc.) What else can they get out of the experience?  Intern or volunteer at a local organization  Establish partnerships with local institutions  Conduct original research using archival material or secondary sources original to the country of study

  INTERNATIONAL LIBRARIAN NETWORKS Can we bui ld par tnerships between information professionals across borders?  Encourage students to use local resources  Prepare students more ful ly  Better bui ld relationships between students and local host community  Knowledge sharing between professionals  Possibi lities for future study
