The document presents an enhanced dynamic source routing (DSR) protocol for mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) that utilizes a path ranking technique to improve performance issues related to congestion and packet delivery rates. A comparative analysis is made between various routing protocols, including proactive (DSDV), reactive (DSR), and a hybrid (ZRP), highlighting the modifications in DSR for better efficiency. Results from NS2 simulations demonstrate improved packet delivery fraction, reduced end-to-end delay, and increased throughput with the modified DSR compared to existing protocols.
