HIDDEN ENEMIES
We often mention that external enemies are the worst
exponentsofdisturbancethatworktoourdetriment.However,
it is urgent to look within ourselves to discover that the
toughest adversaries are those that we cannot promptly get
away from, for they lodge themselves in the core of our very
soul.
Among them, the most implacable are:
-Selfishness,whichobstructsourspiritualvision,preventingus
from seeing the needs of those we love most;
-Pride, which prevents us from embracing the light of
understanding, throwing us into permanent imbalance;
-Vanity, which suggests that we overestimate our worth,
leading us to disregard the merits of others;
- Discouragement, which drives us to the precipices of inertia;
-Mental intemperance, which places us in a state of
indiscipline;
- Fear of suffering, which robs us of the best opportunities for
progress, and so many other harmful agents that settle in our
Spirit, corroding our energy and destroying our mental
stability.
To transform external adversaries, we usually count on the
support of friends who help us revise relationships and
collaborate with us in establishing new paths; however, to
extinguish those who live within us, it is only worth the help of
God and the laborious effort of ourselves.
Referring to external enemies, JESUS warned us that we must
forgive offenses seventy times seven times, and get rid of
internal enemies - all of them born in the darkness of
ignorance - the Lord promised us that: “You shall know the
truth and the truth shall make you free”, which means that we
will only be safe from our inner calamities, through hard work
in the workshop on education.
