How to Complete a Housing Application
- 1. How to Complete a Housing Application DIVISION OF STUDENT ENROLLMENT, ENGAGEMENT, AND SUCCESS RESIDENCE LIFE
- 2. Access your Housing Application • Access your Housing Application by logging on to my.Hofstra.edu • Under Student Services, Click on the Residence Life menu, and then select Residence Life Room Application(for the term which you are applying).
- 3. • Select the term for which you are applying and click on “Continue”.
- 4. Application Process • To begin the Housing Application, click on “Start Application”. • Students have the ability to move through the application process by completing each page outlined on the side bar and clicking on the “Save and Continue” button.
- 5. Personal Details • Student information displayed is based on information the University has on file. • To make any changes to your student information, click on the link indicated. • Students who require an ADA accessible room must click on the “tick box”. In order to be assigned an accessible room, you must be registered with and your accommodation approved by the Student Access Services Office. • Click on “Save and Continue”.

Living Learning Communities(LLC’s) • Students interested in residing in a Living-Learning community (LLC), should enter and confirm housing preferences by clicking on the “ADD” button and then selecting a LLC preference from the drop down menu. • Students not interested in residing in a LLC housing option, should select “Not Interested” from the drop down menu.
- 7. Room Preferences • Students can select their Location and Room Type Preference from the drop down menu and click on “Add Preference”. Be sure to list these preferences in priority order. • Click on the “Save and Continue” button
- 8. Roommate Matching Questionnaire • Students who do not have a particular roommate in mind to live with, can search for a roommate by completing the Roommate Matching Questionnaire. • Please ensure you complete each prompt to increase your chances of a good match.
- 9. Roommate Selection • Students can search for roommates by details(MUST have the student’s Hofstra ID#) or by Profiles(prospective roommates that appear, will be based off of the Roommate Matching Questionnaire). • Only continuing students, who have a completed housing application, and do not already have a housing assignment can be added to a group. • Students will only see other students of the same biological sex.
- 10. Housing Contract • Students are encouraged to read through the entire housing contract prior to electronically agreeing to the terms. The housing contract is a one year contractual agreement. • By clicking on the “tick box” , you acknowledge that you have read, and understand, the housing contract. Click on “Save and Continue.
- 11. Apply For Dining • Students can select a dining dollar plan by clicking the link indicated and following the steps. • All undergraduate resident students must select a dining dollar plan as it is a requirement of residency. Undergraduate resident students who do not select a dining dollar plan will have the lowest allowable one based on number of credits earned assigned .
