How to Manage Tasks and Projects using Trello

In this Tutorial, we will learn
the following basics in Trello:
• Create a Trello Account
• Create a Team
• Create a Board
• Add a List, and Card

But before that,
What is Trello?
And how can the Trello app
help in managing
tasks and projects?

Trello is an online project
management app.
According to its website,
Trello lets you work
more collaboratively
and get more done…

… Trello’s boards, lists, and
cards enable you to organize
and prioritize your projects in
a fun, flexible and
rewarding way.

In short, Trello is your digital
“cork board" or “white
board” where you can make
checklists, assign tasks to
team members,
and update it as a
project progresses…

Trello gives you a bigger
picture of the project’s
completion status.
So let’s start with
the Tutorial.
Shall we?

How to Manage Tasks and Projects using Trello

Type trello.com in the address
bar in your browser and hit Enter

Enter your
NAME,
EMAIL, and
PASSWORD

Go to your inbox and look
for the Trello email

Your Trello Dashboard
should look like this

From the Dashboard,
click Create a new team

Enter the
Name of the
Team and
Description,
then click
Create

This is the team pages’
dashboard, where the Boards,
Members, and Settings are shown

To edit, click Edit Team Profile

Edit the Name, Website, and
Description, then click Save

To add team members,
click Members

For team members with a Trello
account, Search by name

Or click Add by Name or Email to
invite the team member to Trello

To invite the
team
member to
Trello, type
in the email
address

Add the Name
and click Send
They'll receive
access to the team
once they sign up
and confirm their
email address.

Or Invite them by
giving them a
special link

Once the invitation is accepted,
the member will show on the list

Here, you can check the activity
of each team member

The role of each member can also
be set by clicking the dropdown

The team member can be set as
an Admin or as a Normal member

The member can also be removed
from the team anytime

Type in the Title of your
Board (this is your Project)

You can choose the Privacy
Setting by clicking the Change link

We can now organize the
projects’ tasks by creating lists

Type the Name of your List
and click Save

You can have as many lists as
necessary

Type the Name of your card (this
is the task) and click Add

You can have as many cards on
each list as necessary

Each card has its own settings
that you can edit

There are six (6) setting options
for each card

Here you can name and color
code the labels of each card

When you’re done, click Exit

Select which Team Member will
be assigned to the task card

When a check mark is shown next
to the team member’s name

Here you can move the card to a
different Board, List, or Position

To move the card to a different
board, click Board, select from
the dropdown, and click Move

To move the card to a different
List, click List, select from the
dropdown, and click Move

To change the position of the
card, click Position, select from
the dropdown, and click Move

To copy the card to a different
Board, List or Position, click Copy

Select the Board, List and
Position, and click Create Card

To Set a deadline for a card and
task, click Change Due date

Set a Date and Time, click Save

To not set a deadline,
click Remove

To Add more details,
click on the card

Here you can add a detailed
description of the task

You can add comments and
feedbacks on the task

To add a Checklist for a card,
click Checklist

Type the name of the Checklist,
then click Add

Type each item in detail on the
Checklist, then click Add

This is an example of a Checklist

When an item is ticked, it will
show the % of completion

To add an attachment to a card,
click Attachment

Select the file you want to
attach, then click Open

The attached files will now
show on the card

To remove a card from the List,
click Archive

The steps we have defined
so far are the basic usage in
Trello to help you and me in
managing our daily tasks
and projects.
