Interaction Design Models
Cooper's Goal-Directed
Design
● Cooper's Goal-Directed Design is a
user-centered design framework
developed by Alan Cooper, a
software designer and programmer.
It focuses on understanding the
goals and needs of users to create
effective and user-friendly digital
products.
Double Diamond model
● The Double Diamond model is a
design process model that was
developed by the British Design
Council. It is called the "Double
Diamond" because it is represented
by two diamond shapes, each
representing a different stage of the
design process. The model is used
to visually map out the divergent and
convergent stages of the design
process.
Cooper's Goal-
Directed
Design Model
Cooper's Goal-Directed Design
Here are the key principles of Cooper's Goal-Directed Design:
● Personas: Cooper's approach emphasizes the use of personas, which are fictional characters
representing different user types. Personas help designers empathize with users and design
products that meet their specific needs and goals.
● Scenarios: Scenarios are narrative descriptions of how a persona would use the product to
achieve a goal. By creating scenarios, designers can better understand user workflows and design
interfaces that support them.
● Prototyping: Cooper advocates for rapid prototyping to quickly test and iterate on design ideas.
Prototypes can range from low-fidelity sketches to high-fidelity interactive mockups, depending on
the stage of the design process.
● Usability Testing: Usability testing is a critical part of Cooper's design process. By testing
prototypes with real users, designers can identify usability issues and make informed design
decisions.
● Iterative Design: Cooper's approach is iterative, with designers continuously refining and
improving the design based on user feedback and testing results.
● Goal-Orientation: The design process is driven by the goals of the users. Design decisions are
evaluated based on how well they help users achieve their goals.
Double Diamond - Design Model
Double Diamond Model
Here are the key principles of Cooper's Goal-Directed Design:
● Discover: The first diamond represents the "Discover" stage, where the focus is on
understanding the problem space. This stage involves:
❖ Research: Conducting research to gather insights about the users, the context of use, and
the problem itself.
❖ Analysis: Analyzing the research findings to identify patterns, themes, and opportunities.
❖ Synthesis: Synthesizing the insights to define the design challenge and develop a clear
design brief.
● Define: The first stage of divergence and convergence leads to the second diamond,
representing the "Define" stage. In this stage, the focus is on defining the problem and
generating ideas. This stage involves:
❖ Ideation: Generating a wide range of ideas through brainstorming, sketching, and other
ideation techniques.
❖ Concept Development: Developing and refining concepts that address the defined problem
and meet the needs of the users.
❖ Prototyping: Creating prototypes to visualize and test the concepts.
Double Diamond Model
Here are the key principles of Cooper's Goal-Directed Design:
● Develop: The second stage of divergence and convergence leads to the third
diamond, representing the "Develop" stage. In this stage, the focus is on developing
and refining the chosen concept. This stage involves:
❖ Implementation: Developing the final design solution, including detailed design and
specifications.
❖ Testing: Testing the design with users to gather feedback and iterate on the design.
❖ Iteration: Iterating on the design based on the feedback received, refining the solution
to improve its effectiveness and usability.
● Deliver: The final stage of the process involves delivering the final design solution.
This may include producing design specifications, creating assets for production, and
implementing the design.

FUTURE
Problem with a UI/UX Intern
As a senior UI/UX product designer, working with a UI/UX intern can present several challenges, especially when
it comes to delivering quality design solutions on time. Here are some common problems you might encounter:
● Skill and Experience Gap: Interns often lack the experience and skills required to handle complex design
challenges. This can lead to delays and subpar design solutions.
● Communication Challenges: Interns may struggle to effectively communicate their ideas and understand
the requirements from senior designers or stakeholders, leading to misunderstandings and rework.
● Lack of Initiative: Interns may wait for instructions rather than taking initiative. This can slow down the
design process and hinder creativity.
● Time Management Issues: Interns may struggle with managing their time effectively, leading to delays in
project milestones and deliverables.
● Quality Control: Ensuring that the intern's work meets the quality standards expected by the senior
designer and the organization can be challenging.
● Feedback Handling: Interns may find it difficult to receive and implement feedback, which is crucial for
their growth and improvement as designers.
● Resource Constraints: Limited access to tools, resources, and mentorship can impact the intern's ability
to deliver quality work on time.
● Integration with Team: Integrating interns into the existing design team and ensuring they collaborate
effectively with other team members can be challenging.

How Ai is
Helping Us To
make a good
UX/UI?
❖ Create flow diagrams for user
journeys
❖ Automate the UX design
process
❖ Generate effective copy for in-
product experiences
❖ Generate a basic layout
❖ Use AI for product tours and
walkthroughs
❖ Analyze large volumes of data
more efficiently
Let’s design and
develop a
Landing Page
with the help of Ai
ChatGPT prompts for Research and UX writing
● You are now a ui/ux design research assistant.
● This HIPPA certified tele healthcare product called Teledentix providing On-demand Virtual
appointments to patients anywhere in the USA.
● What is required for HIPAA certified tele healthcare SaaS product landing page UI design?
● I need you to help identify the target audience for this online tele-healthcare product, findings
should include the target demographics.
● Can you create 5 user personas that represents your findings from the previous prompt?
● Can you describe the information architecture for the landing page of this SaaS product? The
primary goal is to convince the user that they (patient) should try it in any dental emergency.
● Can you describe the user flow in a scenario where a patient saw an ad for the on-demand
tele-healthcare solution on Facebook, and want to schedule an appointment?
● Can you provide some copy for hero section, which includes the headline, a sub headline
and the copy for the CTA button?
ChatGPT prompts
● Can you provide me 4 more variations?
● Can you provide me with a list of 6 benefits that would convince a patient to
schedule a virtual dental appointment session? Please include a title and a
brief description that is no longer 2 sentences for each benefits.
● Can you create 3 fictional user testimonials with a name and the user’s
testimonial? I will not use when the website is live, but it would be helpful
while working within Figma.
● Can you generate a FAQ section based on common questions or concern
that the target audience might have? Please generate at least 6 different
questions and answers.
● Can you product a few colour schemes that would work well based on the
SaaS product (Teledentix) and the target audience?
