Format and evaluation of mini-grant proposal:
This proposal is expected to include novel experimental
designs to address outstanding questions on the chosen
topics. The length of the proposal will be no less than five-
pages (Arial font, 12 points, single space, 1 inch margin, no-
more-than five figures) excluding references. The proposal
should include: (1) Title of the proposal (2) Specific aims
and significance (3) Background (4) Experimental designs
(5) Expected results (6) References. (7) Figures: schematic
diagram of your proposed work to depict the principle
including schematic design of your basic building block and
expected results from functional performance of your
proposed machines or devices.
The scope of the proposal is to encourage student to write a creative, original,
logical proposal to design a new nanostructure, molecular machine or device
using biological materials (DNA/RNA, peptide, protein…) or their conjugates
with any nanoscale material (nanoparticle or any nanomaterial), which can
solve the conventional problems in bionanotechnology fields, such as bio-
nanomedicine, bio-nano energy, bionanosensor, bio-computing, bio-nano
electronic device and etc. Identify challenges in science and engineering and
demonstrate your creativity using the tools that you learned from the classes or
inspired from nature, which clearly demonstrate biological characteristics,
such as specificity, high-efficiency, self-assembly, self-evolve, self-healing or
etc.
Notice:
• Do not submit any duplicated proposal from other classes.
• Do not submit any collaborative proposal.
=> Any similarity between proposals will be graded as “F”.
Attendance is required
• Class attendance is strongly recommended. The
missing class case is subject to the discretion of
instructor.
• The student will receive a score of zero for any
assessment item not submitted because of no excuse
absence. This includes the homework assignments,
quizzes, presentation and final report.
