2. The Event
Elvis Week occurs every
January in celebration of Elvis
Presley’s birthday (January 8).
The event is held at the
Northern Lights Theater in the
Potawatomi Casino located in
the Menomonee Valley in
Downtown Milwaukee.
Many Elvis Tribute Artists
(ETAs) come from all over the
world to compete for a grand
prize of $25,001, the largest
cash prize in North America for
this type of competition.
Performers come from the
United States, Canada, The UK,
Australia and as far away as the
Philipines.

3. The Criteria
The ETAs are judged on voice,
costumes, performance, moves,
and just overall embodiment of
“The King of Rock and Roll.”
They may choose any era of
Elvis’ career to perform:
1950s Young Elvis
1960s Movie Years
1968 Comeback Special
1970s Concert Years
Really versatile ETAs can easily
slip from one era into another.
Some other ETAs…not so much.
4. The Contest
The ETAs compete for five days.
Beginning with the “Roulette Round,”
each contestant puts an Elvis song
into a hat, and each blindly pulled a
song from the hat. It was do or die
for many ETAs, but it was not the end
of the road.
The ETAs have at least one chance
per day to make it to the semi-finals
each night.
The winners of each day’s semi-finals
goes on to the Finals at the Grand
Finale at the end of the week.
It is recorded that “Poke Salad
Annie”, “Hurt”, and “Blue Suede
Shoes” are the most popular songs
performed. If you didn’t like “Poke
Salad” before…you will now.

adding his name to the growing list of
Champions. This year included a race
for the Grand Champion. Returning fan
favorites Joseph Hall and Matt Joyce
