I am fairly pleased with the outcome of my radio drama, as I exceled extremely well
during the creation and pre-planning process of my radio drama. After originally
planning my radio drama to be a children’s story, I realised that I would do better,
and be more excited about an idea that I previously had, the strongest and best done
components of my radio drama were the pre-production and planning in general, I
had an interesting storyline and I built the characters profile very well. I created a
story that meets the requirements of my genre very well, as it was thrilling (like a
thriller), and very engaging, with its sense of mystery. The overall radio drama was
successful, although there were still some factors that could have been enriched.
These included the volume level between the ambience in vocals and some scenes,
especially the interrogation scenes, and the general sound quality of the radio drama.
After I received my feedback I had to make a few alterations to my radio drama,
these changes were mainly due to the audiences not being able to follow the storyline
easily, thus being left confuse as opposed to shocked, I had to change the structure of
my narrative, this involved altering my script and moving some of the scenes into
different parts, e.g. the first scene of my radio drama was originally the
interrogationscene, but due to my audience being too lost at this stage I decided to
add the café scene to explain how she ended up there. After making these changes
the radio drama was a lot better and more exciting for me and my audience.
Due to finishing my radio drama a little early, I was able to re-construct some scenes
and fix things like, (when my actors messed up the words), and I was able to re-edit
the radio drama to add more ambience and music make it as professional as
possible.
In conclusion, my radio drama was successful at appealing to my target audience, as
they were excited, thrilled and engaged with my narrative. There still could have
been some improvements but they were mainly due to the quality of equipment I
used and not on my writing or producing skills.
