This document discusses a novel receiver-based traffic redundancy elimination (TRE) technique called Prediction-based Cloud Bandwidth and Cost Reduction (PACK) for cloud computing environments. PACK aims to reduce bandwidth costs and server load by having receivers detect redundant data and send predictions to senders about future chunks. This avoids sending redundant data and allows receivers to locally store chunks instead of downloading them. The document evaluates PACK using video traces and estimates its potential for cost savings compared to traditional sender-based TRE and no TRE.
