An Exercise in Examining Ourselves
 People are watching us! Your car even
preaches for you when you are at the church
building. 2 Cor. 3:2
 Even though others are evaluating us, we
need to examine ourselves. 2 Cor. 13:5;
James 1:23-25
 We can help each other get stronger and
grow into being all that we can be in Christ!
Eph. 4:13-16
 Let’s earnestly ponder some ways that every
Christian should strive to live in.
 This is just what Jesus said about His
disciples. Matthew 5:16, 13-14
 Just think, the influence of salt in anything
changes the flavor (environment).
 Our influence should make life tasteful not
tasteless! Job 6:6
 Salt has a purifying quality too. Do others
straighten up when you are around?
 You are the light of the world! Reflecting
Christ’s light is our responsibility. 2 Cor. 3:18
 “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
old things have passed away; behold, all
things have become new” (2 Cor. 5:17).
 These things should be able to be said of you
as a Christian. Why? Because in repentance
you put away the old sinful self and put on
the new Christ-like self! Romans 6:6-12
 How? As described in Col. 3:10, “and have
put on the new man who is renewed in
knowledge according to the image of Him
who created him”. It starts in the heart…

 Do others see you express happiness?
Matthew 5:8
 This is a powerful quality of your godly
attitude.
 We must have a diligent heart! Proverbs 4:23
 Are you dead from the neck up? Here in body
but not in spirit? Mt. 15:8
 How should we approach God? “Clean hands
and a pure heart”. Ps. 24:3-4; 51:10; Is. 1:16-17
 We must develop the righteous lifestyles which
God instructs.
 Paul lived with an improper clear conscience.
Acts 23:1; 26:9
 We need to be sure that we have a pure
conscience based on God’s truth. Acts 24:16
 We’re to live a holy life ready for the judgment
day! Hebrews 10:24-25
 We need to keep the Christian’s faith.
Gal. 2:20
 We must stand fast in the liberty of Christ.
Galatians 5:1
 Be steadfast, unmovable… 1 Cor. 15:58
 We need to keep the faith as in Acts 2:25.
 Remember, that the Lord is with us always…

 Talking of the vainglory, pride of life or self…
Proverbs 27:1
 The boastful pride of life is of the world and
not of God. 1 Jn. 2:15-17
 We want to continue in God’s good grace so
we do not want to be prideful. Jas. 4:6
 Can this be said of you?
 “I’m too tired,” “I don’t feel like it,” “I don’t
want to,” “Something came up”… Where’s
the Scripture showing that’s acceptable?
Luke 9:62
 We should never willfully miss an assembly
of the church! Heb. 10:25
 If we do then we sin, and there remains no
more sacrifice for a willful sin! Heb. 10:26
 We should be glad to go worship God and
study God’s word! Psalm 122:1
 We must desire God’s milk of the word that
we may grow! 1 Peter 2:2
 If we fail to do as we should in this, we will
destroy ourselves as a result. Hos. 4:6
 Ergo, we must grow in the grace and
knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus
Christ! 2 Peter 3:18; Col. 3:16
 What are you doing to help yourself grow?
 We must do this to be approved unto God.

 We must be like Timothy was told to be!

 We must be totally devoted to God’s
teaching!
 “Think on these things. Devote your life to
them so that everyone can see your progress.”

 Can you honestly say what the Psalmist said
in Ps. 119:97?
 Jesus clearly told us to prioritize in this
manner! Matthew 6:33
 If you do, you will have all your basic needs
provided! Mt. 6:30-32
 A great example of putting God and His
kingdom first… 2 Cor. 8:5-7
 Is Christ’s church that important to you?
 It should be!
 Brother Paul was! Philippians 1:17
 We need to prepare and defend the glorious
gospel too! Jude 3
 We must proclaim it regardless of the
opposition! Acts 5:29, 42
 By doing so you will save yourself and those
who hear you! 1 Timothy 4:16
 Be always abounding in the Lord’s work!

 Seeking to save the lost… Luke 19:10; 17:10
 Keeping God’s commandments… Eccl. 12:13
 All the while loving Christ as we should…

 Serving our greatest friend… Jn. 15:13-14
 Do you serve God daily? Lk. 9:23; Ps.68:19
 We should be living soberly, righteously and
godly today! Titus 2:11-14
 We should live holy lives in order to gain
entry to the Kingdom of God. 1 Cor. 6:9-10
 We may enter into the gates of heaven only
if we do His commandments. Rev. 22:14
 It is required in us just as with stewards that
one be found faithful! 1 Corinthians 4:2
 Jesus said if we are faithful unto death that
we will receive the crown of life. Rev. 2:10
 This is the promise of eternal life! 1 Jn. 2:25
 Do you truly want eternal life? If so, then be
faithful to Christ unto the end!
 The world would be a better place, the church
of Christ would grow exponentially, the glory
of GOD would be renowned and the world
would again be turned upside down with
God’s faithful children proclaiming the
powerful never changing saving Gospel of
Jesus Christ!
 Let’s change the world for the best! 2 Tim.2:21
