This document provides an agenda and details for the PTAG Impact 2016 Student Conclave to be held on April 16th in Dahlonega, Georgia. Your Money & Your Life David French, PT, DPT,ATC This part of the session will discuss general personal financial issues including salary negotiations, taxes, retirement, debt repayment, mortgages, buying a car and budgeting.The session is interactive and designed to help students make wise financial decisions following graduation.This is the class I wish I had before I graduated from school and started making money.When I was a student, I was dependent on my parents and financial aid to get me through school and pay my bills.When I graduated from school and started making money, I did not have a clue how to manage my money. I designed this class to help soon to be Physical Therapy graduates avoid the mistakes I made and be financially successful. PA G E 4 5 : 1 5 P M - 6 : 1 5 P M If I Knew Then What I Know Now: New Professionals Discussing the Profession with Students Daniel Dale, PT, DPT; Ryan Balmes, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, FAAOMPT; Kaitlen Boaen, PT, DPT; Carty Powers, PT, DPT, OCS; & Mark Powers, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT A panel of five new professionals with varying practice areas and specialties will speak with students to help prepare them for entering the profession.Topics will include preparing for the board exam, interviewing and resume writing skills, how to take your first job, how to leave your first job, and how to pursue specialist certification or post-grad education. Panel members have experience in state and national leadership, clinic ownership, have completed a residency and/or fellowship, obtained specialist certification, and practice in the state of Georgia. Upon completion, attendees will be able to: • Explain strategies for preparing for the licensure examination • Prepare strategies for interviewing and salary negotiation • Discuss rationale and process for pursuing specialist certification or post-graduate education Oxford Debate: Should Residency Training be Mandatory for Physical Therapists? DavidTaylor, PT, DPT, GCS The second annual PTAG Oxford Debate at imPacT 2016 will feature a lively, insightful, heated, and often humorous debate between two teams.The Oxford Debate is modelled after an 1860 debate at the Oxford University Museum after Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species. Each team will attempt to persuade you to support their opinion for a pre-determined motion.Audience members will interact with the panelists and try to sway the audience through clapping, cheering, and moving from one side of the room to the other to show their support (or not)! Don’t miss this fun-filled, good-hearted debate.The teams will present the best argument for their side of the debate, however not all statements made by a speaker necessarily represent the true opinion of that speaker. Join us for the Oxford Debate and show us “Who you are for?” The Business of Physical Therapy David French, PT, DPT,ATC This part of the session is designed to help students understand how the business of Physical Therapy operates.We will discuss how a Physical Therapy practice makes money.We will discuss what an employer expects from a new graduate now that they are an employee.We will also discuss what a new graduate should look for when looking for their first employer. Upon completion, attendees will be able to: • Understand how the business of Physical Therapy makes money and their role in that process • Understand the expenses involved in running a business • Understand what is expected of the new employee • Understand what to look for in an employer

PA G E 5 S P E A K E R B I O G R PA H I E S Ryan Balmes, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, FAAOMPT is a physical therapist that is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports and Orthopedics.Additionally, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. Dr. Balmes practices as a contractor in Atlanta in outpatient orthopedic clinics. He also has founded ENDVR Sports Physical Therapy, a private practice striving to guide athletes to pursue their goals. As a speaker, Dr. Balmes has presented at APTA's Combined Sections Meeting and PTAG Spring meeting. He has taught at Emory's Orthopedic PT residency program, Georgia State University's entry-level program, and even overseas in the Philippines. He also serves as part of APTA's Media Corp, representing the APTA as spokesperson to consumers and journalists. Dr. Balmes is passionate about the physical therapy profession. He loves treating patients and mentoring students and new professionals. Kaitlen Boaen, PT, DPT obtained her bachelors and doctorate degree from Armstrong State University in Savannah, GA. She has specialized in pelvic floor rehabilitation since graduating in 2011. She has completed the three Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic PT (CAPP-Pelvic) courses and has recently submitted a case report to obtain CAPP-Pelvic certification through APTA’s Section on Women’s Health. Kaitlen currently works at Siskin Hospital for Rehabilitation in Chattanooga,TN and is a pelvic floor specialist. Daniel Dale, PT, DPT graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2011 from Armstrong Atlantic State University. He currently works in the Day Program rehab unit at the Shepherd Center. Daniel previously served as Recording Secretary for the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia, and has served as a Delegate and Chief Delegate in 2014 representing Georgia at the APTA House of Delegates. Daniel has presented multiple times since 2011 at both Combined Sections Meeting and Annual Conference, directed towards leadership and engagement for Early Career Individuals. Daniel is a current APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor, and was named an APTA Emerging Leader for the state of Georgia in 2013.  David French, PT, DPT, ATC has been a Physical Therapist for 25 years. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Education. Dave graduated from the University of Louisville PT program and Boston University DPT program. He works with Performance Physical Therapy and manages the Home PT division. He taught this course for the Mercer and Georgia State PT programs. He has served with local counties on the Health Occupations and student Career Development boards. Carty Powers, PT, DPT, OCS Powers graduated from The University of Georgia in 2008, with a focus in Exercise and Sport Science. She went on to receive a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Armstrong State University in 2011. In 2013, she passed the OCS exam becoming an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. She is certified in performing functional capacity evaluations and is currently in process of pursuing a certification in dry needling. Carty currently works at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia in adult outpatient rehab. Mark Powers, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT is a Massachusetts native currently residing in Savannah, GA. He works for Candler Hospital Outpatient Rehab. His clinical interests include treatment of patients with persistent pain states and learning more about the role that observation and clinician language choice have in rehabilitation. He is currently enrolled in a manual therapy fellowship program through NxtGen Institute of Physical Therapy and is a video contributor for the Orthopedic channel at NxtGenPT.tv. David Taylor, PT, DPT, GCS is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Mercer University, in Atlanta Georgia. Dr.Taylor received his B.S. in Psychology in 1988, Master of Physical Therapy in 1992, and Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2004 from Emory University. In 2015, Dr.Taylor completed a Certificate in Health Focused Patient/Client Management for Physical and Occupational Therapists from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has been a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Geriatric Physical Therapy since 2001. Dr.Taylor’s clinical practice included acute and post-acute care, including the skilled nursing and home health settings. Dr.Taylor’s teaching responsibilities include health promotion, geriatric physical therapy, falls prevention, service-learning, clinical education, and healthcare systems, payment, and policy. He provides consulting services for peer and utilization review in geriatric post- acute care settings. Dr.Taylor was the recipient of the 2014 Lynn Phillippi Advocacy for Older Adults Award from the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy.     Your Money &Your Life David French, PT, DPT,ATC This part of the session will discuss general personal financial issues including salary negotiations, taxes, retirement, debt repayment, mortgages, buying a car and budgeting.The session is interactive and designed to help students make wise financial decisions following graduation.This is the class I wish I had before I graduated from school and started making money.When I was a student, I was dependent on my parents and financial aid to get me through school and pay my bills.When I graduated from school and started making money, I did not have a clue how to manage my money. I designed this class to help soon to be Physical Therapy graduates avoid the mistakes I made and be financially successful. PA G E 4 5 : 1 5 P M - 6 : 1 5 P M If I Knew Then What I Know Now: New Professionals Discussing the Profession with Students Daniel Dale, PT, DPT; Ryan Balmes, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, FAAOMPT; Kaitlen Boaen, PT, DPT; Carty Powers, PT, DPT, OCS; & Mark Powers, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT A panel of five new professionals with varying practice areas and specialties will speak with students to help prepare them for entering the profession.Topics will include preparing for the board exam, interviewing and resume writing skills, how to take your first job, how to leave your first job, and how to pursue specialist certification or post-grad education. Panel members have experience in state and national leadership, clinic ownership, have completed a residency and/or fellowship, obtained specialist certification, and practice in the state of Georgia. Upon completion, attendees will be able to: • Explain strategies for preparing for the licensure examination • Prepare strategies for interviewing and salary negotiation • Discuss rationale and process for pursuing specialist certification or post-graduate education Oxford Debate: Should Residency Training be Mandatory for Physical Therapists? DavidTaylor, PT, DPT, GCS The second annual PTAG Oxford Debate at imPacT 2016 will feature a lively, insightful, heated, and often humorous debate between two teams.The Oxford Debate is modelled after an 1860 debate at the Oxford University Museum after Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species. Each team will attempt to persuade you to support their opinion for a pre-determined motion.Audience members will interact with the panelists and try to sway the audience through clapping, cheering, and moving from one side of the room to the other to show their support (or not)! Don’t miss this fun-filled, good-hearted debate.The teams will present the best argument for their side of the debate, however not all statements made by a speaker necessarily represent the true opinion of that speaker. Join us for the Oxford Debate and show us “Who you are for?” The Business of Physical Therapy David French, PT, DPT,ATC This part of the session is designed to help students understand how the business of Physical Therapy operates.We will discuss how a Physical Therapy practice makes money.We will discuss what an employer expects from a new graduate now that they are an employee.We will also discuss what a new graduate should look for when looking for their first employer. Upon completion, attendees will be able to: • Understand how the business of Physical Therapy makes money and their role in that process • Understand the expenses involved in running a business • Understand what is expected of the new employee • Understand what to look for in an employer

PA G E 5 S P E A K E R B I O G R PA H I E S Ryan Balmes, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, FAAOMPT is a physical therapist that is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports and Orthopedics.Additionally, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. Dr. Balmes practices as a contractor in Atlanta in outpatient orthopedic clinics. He also has founded ENDVR Sports Physical Therapy, a private practice striving to guide athletes to pursue their goals. As a speaker, Dr. Balmes has presented at APTA's Combined Sections Meeting and PTAG Spring meeting. He has taught at Emory's Orthopedic PT residency program, Georgia State University's entry-level program, and even overseas in the Philippines. He also serves as part of APTA's Media Corp, representing the APTA as spokesperson to consumers and journalists. Dr. Balmes is passionate about the physical therapy profession. He loves treating patients and mentoring students and new professionals. Kaitlen Boaen, PT, DPT obtained her bachelors and doctorate degree from Armstrong State University in Savannah, GA. She has specialized in pelvic floor rehabilitation since graduating in 2011. She has completed the three Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic PT (CAPP-Pelvic) courses and has recently submitted a case report to obtain CAPP-Pelvic certification through APTA’s Section on Women’s Health. Kaitlen currently works at Siskin Hospital for Rehabilitation in Chattanooga,TN and is a pelvic floor specialist. Daniel Dale, PT, DPT graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2011 from Armstrong Atlantic State University. He currently works in the Day Program rehab unit at the Shepherd Center. Daniel previously served as Recording Secretary for the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia, and has served as a Delegate and Chief Delegate in 2014 representing Georgia at the APTA House of Delegates. Daniel has presented multiple times since 2011 at both Combined Sections Meeting and Annual Conference, directed towards leadership and engagement for Early Career Individuals. Daniel is a current APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor, and was named an APTA Emerging Leader for the state of Georgia in 2013.  David French, PT, DPT, ATC has been a Physical Therapist for 25 years. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Education. Dave graduated from the University of Louisville PT program and Boston University DPT program. He works with Performance Physical Therapy and manages the Home PT division. He taught this course for the Mercer and Georgia State PT programs. He has served with local counties on the Health Occupations and student Career Development boards. Carty Powers, PT, DPT, OCS Powers graduated from The University of Georgia in 2008, with a focus in Exercise and Sport Science. She went on to receive a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Armstrong State University in 2011. In 2013, she passed the OCS exam becoming an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. She is certified in performing functional capacity evaluations and is currently in process of pursuing a certification in dry needling. Carty currently works at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia in adult outpatient rehab. Mark Powers, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT is a Massachusetts native currently residing in Savannah, GA. He works for Candler Hospital Outpatient Rehab. His clinical interests include treatment of patients with persistent pain states and learning more about the role that observation and clinician language choice have in rehabilitation. He is currently enrolled in a manual therapy fellowship program through NxtGen Institute of Physical Therapy and is a video contributor for the Orthopedic channel at NxtGenPT.tv. David Taylor, PT, DPT, GCS is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Mercer University, in Atlanta Georgia. Dr.Taylor received his B.S. in Psychology in 1988, Master of Physical Therapy in 1992, and Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2004 from Emory University. In 2015, Dr.Taylor completed a Certificate in Health Focused Patient/Client Management for Physical and Occupational Therapists from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has been a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Geriatric Physical Therapy since 2001. Dr.Taylor’s clinical practice included acute and post-acute care, including the skilled nursing and home health settings. Dr.Taylor’s teaching responsibilities include health promotion, geriatric physical therapy, falls prevention, service-learning, clinical education, and healthcare systems, payment, and policy. He provides consulting services for peer and utilization review in geriatric post- acute care settings. Dr.Taylor was the recipient of the 2014 Lynn Phillippi Advocacy for Older Adults Award from the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy.
