This document discusses implementing a sustainability balanced scorecard (SBSC) to help assess the organizational legitimacy of Westpac, a major Australian bank. It provides background on Westpac's sustainability reporting practices and recognizes its leadership in this area. The study uses a SBSC framework to link Westpac's disclosed sustainability indicators to the four perspectives of a traditional balanced scorecard: financial, customer, internal processes, and learning and growth. This helps clarify how Westpac's sustainability reporting relates to stakeholder expectations, a key source of organizational legitimacy. The SBSC provides a succinct overview of Westpac's reporting activities and focal areas.
