This is one of the more obvious signs of a bad ground
strap in your car.

When you start your BMW, you will probably hear a lot of
tapping sounds due to a bad ground strap.

This is coming from the solenoid of the starter while it
is opening and closing repeatedly.

Due to bad ground strap, the electrical circuit will
receive resistance while delivering power to the
headlights.

You can notice the headlights either flickering or
dimming regularly while driving your BMW at night.

In some cases, your ground strap may just be a little bit
loose and will require you to tighten it securely.

A damaged ground strap cannot deliver a charge to the
battery, expect the battery to die very quickly.

The charging system of the battery depends on the ground

of voltage coming from your battery terminals.

To check for a bad ground strap, run a continuity test
between the battery and the chassis.

A voltage reading of 12.6 indicates normal range but a
reading under 11.5 volts indicates a bad ground strap.

The ground strap is also known as the ground cable,
negative battery cable, or ground wire.
