  • 3. The World Market: New Challenges 2 XVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, 21st – 23rd June, 2012  The current size of the world market of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is estimated at $ 1.2 billion  The existing TMS are standard batch-based resource planners. They do not meet the challenges of complexity, real-time management and fast reaction to events
  • 4. The World Market: New Challenges 3 XVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, 21st – 23rd June, 2012 Multi-agent technologies do meet the challenges of complexity and real-time management, but today they are too expensive, unscalable and long to deliver The problem of cost-effectiveness delays the multi-agent revolution in IT
  • 5. 4 Our Solution: XVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, 21st – 23rd June, 2012 Technology that Enhances Scalability Smart Logistics Software Development Kit (SL-SDK) • Supports the whole life cycle of design, implementation and deployment of multi-agent applications • Enables the creation of tested and validated libraries of reusable components including those developed specifically for logistics- related applications; • Implements model-driven engineering of applications, automated software code generation and support for model and program code consistency; • Features increased reliability, fault tolerance and performance of applications; • Reduces application development time and costs as well as risks associated with new developments.
  • 6. 5 The Russian Market: Tabula Rasa XVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, 21st – 23rd June, 2012 • Of the 1800+ transportation companies in Russia only 10% use specialized TMS; the majority rely on simple resource accounting software and create transportation plans manually. 10-15 people work on scheduling and planning. • Small transportation companies and individual truck owners constitute 50% of available resources in the Russian industry. Having no connection to any management system, these trucks are employed in ad-hoc manner and are unable to react promptly to shifting market demand.
  • 7. The First Product: 6 XVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, 21st – 23rd June, 2012 The Intelligent Transportation Management System “We waited for ten years for someone like you to come to us with such a solution” Director General of a leading Russian transportation company
  • 8. 7 Who needs our product and why XVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, 21st – 23rd June, 2012 • Large and medium logistics and transportation companies will value the ITMS for its capacity to solve complex resource planning tasks, react to unpredictable events and mobilize additional resources in the open market. These functions are currently either unavailable or require a workforce of 10-15 people. • Small transportation companies will benefit from using ITMS in the on- demand (SaaS) mode due to its ability to integrate them into larger markets. • Internet retail trade companies that run express delivery in big cities will need the system’s capacity of reacting to unpredictable events (orders, traffic jams, cancellations, etc.) and adaptive planning. • At the design stage IPS works with three leading companies in logistics and retail trade that serve as sources of requirement specifications and test grounds for prototypes The First Expedition Company Tranko Enter.ru / Svyaznoi
