ONLINE EVENT LOCATION TRACKING USING GPS

Abstract - In Today's world, Android is one of the most widely used technologies. It is being used in various fields like
gaming, communication, social media, shopping, and daily organization, etc. There is one more field where android
technology is being used such as public services like Police, Hospital/Ambulance, Fire, Transportation, and
Food/Restaurants, etc. Their existing applications or web services which provide these services to user but through
different application. The existing system are developed using simple SMS facility. Here, propose a system which is not
only based onSMSfacility,butalsoincludeInternetBasedfacilities like Wi-Fi, GPRS, and GPS, etc. Now days, security isan
essential componentfor user, so we have alsoprovided security as well as anonymity. This application isuser- based i.e.
anyone can use it.
Key Words: Emergency Services, Android, SMS-Based, Internet-Based Facilities, EB, GPS.
1. INTRODUCTION
Now a days with the rapid increase of Smartphone’s devices, there users are also increasing as it becomes a major
source of information. It is apparently showing the interest of users in mobile applications that provide storage, analysis and
visualization of the information [1][12]. Most of smart phones equipped with computer processing ability are used to access
network and use different applications developed to meet the user requirementviamobilecommunicationnetwork[18].Inlast
07 years, different android Mobile applications have been developed including top paid and free apps also some focus on
GPSGlobal Positioning System are developed [19]. In various research papers focus on Android Applications till March 2015,
different methods are compared in order to use GPS for location tracking and routing[1][2][3]. Android-based mobile
applications named as GPS phone tracker pro, Mobile Location Tracer, and Location Tracker provides location address of the
user and famous applications on Google Play but these applications have no advance features but still more than 0.8 million
people downloaded these applications[3][9]. Furthermore applications like Locate My Friends, Family Locator[8] and Family
Locator & Messaging[13] has also more than 0.6 million user downloaded history and are used for finding friends and family
location but it has a lot of functionality complaints from users, which includes glitches and application crashing. Mobile Caller
Location Tracker, All call Location Tracker and SMS Tracker has more than 0.5 million downloads and locates only user’s
location whose mobile phones are connected during call and short message service. There are also some famous mobile
applications exit which tracks vehicle location like Vehicle Location Tracker[4], Find MyCar and Tracker these apps has more
than 0.5 downloaded history but user complaints about the features of the apps. Someotherapplicationsarealso designedwith
limited functionality to track lost devices e.g. Where My Droid [1], GPS Phone Tracker Pro and Mobile Location Tracker.Online
location tracking using gps is a location- based system which is used for multiple purpose of the user. Nowadays, an android
mobile isa most popular andday to dayliferoutine for every next person. An android application can be used forbothpersonal
and for business as it allows you to track your real time location . So, theseandroidapplications can be used for helping and
providing people a service which is secured and safe in any situations.
Consider, a person who is new in an area and have no idea about the locality at the an outsider who has no idea about
the locality and want to go to his destination place as soon as possible, wheather its a hospital, a police station ,or a mall,
etc,.location trackingapp help him to get to his locationsafely using GPS. Online EventLocation Trackingappwillprovidepublic
services to all the people based on their current position using Global Positioning System (GPS) and wirelless Communication
(WC)technologies.
Using the location tracking app, people who wanttosearchthenearest destinationHospital,Policestation,andFireincase
of emergency. The person in an emergency and who wantto be at their destination atanytimeassoonaspossibleoranybodyat
the crisis who wants toreach their destination safelycanuseonlinelocationtracking system.
2. LITERATURE SURVEY
As per ‘WorldRoadStatistics2015’releasedbyinternationalRoadFederation,Geneva,Indiarecordedthesecondhighest
number of road accident fatalities per 100,000populations,whichwasat11.RussianFederationtoppedthelistat19per100,000.
1,374roadaccidentstake place everyday resulting in 400 deaths. This number translatesto57accidentseveryaveragehourand
resultinginthedeaths of17.That’s a high number byanystandardandshouldbeamajorcauseforworryforallstakeholdersthat
useandmanageroadsandhighways inthecountry.In the year 2015, as per the survey of Indian governments ministry of road
transport and highways departments, there were near about 5, 01,423 lakh road accidents in India, as against 4, 89,400 lakh in

2014. The number of deaths in 2015 was 1, 46,133 lakh as against 1, 39,671 lakh. The number of people injured from these
accidents was 5, 00,279 lakh in 2015, as against 4, 93,474 lakh in 2014. There is loss of life due to the delay in the arrivalof
ambulance to the hospital in the last minute. When a vehicle meets with accident, it immediately sends its GPS location to the
services. The database of the system has contacts provided by the users. The user selects the nearestambulancetotheaccident
spotusingthedatabase containing the details of free ambulances at that point of time.
Mobile applications are the best way to keep the consumers busy. As the increasing demand for smart phones and the
efficiency of wireless networks, the demandformobileapplicationshasincreaseddrastically.Androidisoneofthemostpopular
opensourceplatforms. AsitoffersthedeveloperstoaccesstheframeworkAPI’sto buildinnovativeapplications.Themainaimof
thissystem is to build an Android application that helps the users to gettheemergencyserviceasfastaspossible.Inourday-to-
daylife, weuse different types of application basedonAndroid.Inmarket,therearevariousSOSbasedapplicationaredeveloped
usingAndroidplatform.TheSOSapplicationisGoogle–Mapbasedapplicationwhichhelpsinfindingemergencyservices.TheSOS
tracking system uses the Location tracing system by using GPS based Localization in order to help people. Emergency occurs
anywhere at any location, at anytime and in variousways will make one at risk and require a speedy response.
Emergencies include Fire, Medical Emergencies and accident, etc. In this paper wepresent a systemforEmergencyServices,
whichenableslocation-basedserviceavailable in smart phone. Location Co-ordinatesaresendingoneachrequest.Thecommon
man can makeuse of this system in case of any emergencies. As a part ofliteraturesurvey, we have gone through women safety
applicationsthatalreadyexistinthemarket.Themotiveis to observe the working oftheseapplicationsandinwhatwaytheycan
be improved and how they are different. In the survey, it is been observed that the Android App forwomensafetyarebetterand
areofferingrelativelysimilar service.
In the survey, we have studied various social emergencyalertservicewhichselectsnearbymembersofthesocialgroup
ofthevictimandnotifyingthemaboutthe victim’sneedforhelpandthevictim’slocation. When anaccidenthappensthemessage
is send by the user/victim to control room or a rescue team by using GPS Technology. GPS is a group of more than 24
communications satellites that transmit signals globally around the world. Using a GPS receiver, anyone can quickly and
accuratelydetermine thelatitude,thelongitude,andinmostcasesthealtitudeofapointonoraboveEarth'ssurfacecandetermine.
Due to short circuits in many areas there are chances of fire generation. So at that time Fire service is required. If the serviceis
notprovidedatmomentthenthereispossibility of great loss. In most of the countries, there are senior citizens who stay alone,
away from their family inoldage homes or alone by themselves. Suppose if we consideremergencysituationslikefireathome
due to some unfortunate conditions and as being alone or sleeping at home leads to major injuries and even sometimes death.
The security of women at night and at times even in day when travelling alone is a concern. If in any case the emergency
situation occurs, the ambulance and other service had reached the spot late hindering emergencymedical treatment, and then
any heinous crime may happenwiththewomen.Inthissituationthenearbypolicecan help to the helpless women in that area.
They can reachasfastaspossibleusingtheemergencyapplication. There isa free telephone number foremergency services in
India. It is currently operational in 20 states (Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh,
Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana,
Uttarakhand and UttarPradesh)andtwo Union Territories (Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.) The 108 Emergency
Response Service is a free emergency service providing integrated medical, police andfireemergencyservices.Theserviceisa
public-privatepartnership between stategovernmentsandprivateEMSproviders. This NAS system was introduced by Central
government of India. When an emergency is reported through 108, the call taker gathers the needed basic information and
dispatches appropriate services. Basic information obtained includes:
 Wherethe call is placedfrom. ( district / tehsil /city/ town / exact location / landmark )
 The type of emergency.
 Number of people injured and the condition of the injured.
 The caller's name and contact number – for location guidance if required.
The caller needs time to gather this information, till that time the ambulance reach to the specified place the patient may
unfortunately die.
So as per the survey, we are developing an android application which will provide basically three emergency services as
wellasoneEmergencyButton(EB),whichwill givethenearestlocationoftheseserviceswiththelocationoftheuserandusingthe
EB the message is send to the contact numbers.

2.1 EXISTING SYSTEM
There had been many separate development on emergencyservicesandSOSapplications,butsomeofthem didn’thave
fewlimitationslikeportability,reliability,and easeofusage.Makingpriorityisonemajorissue. Alsothey maynotbesuitablefor
personal emergency for a common man like handicap adults or old-agecitizens.
In existing system, the user sends help request on helper’s phone with its location. Then the nearest person from the
social group receives a request. After receiving client messagebased onthedistanceof thevictimwhether to display the alert
request or not iddecided.
The existing system describes aboutan SOS application developed in androidplatform.TheSOSapplicationavailableis
thattheuserneednotspenttimein searching menu insidethe phone. Manyapplications available in the market send a message
to the number registered but not the location of the user. Because of this drawback the location is not traced exactly and the
emergency service is not provided on right moment.
2.2 PROPOSED SYSTEM
In our proposed system, we have used three emergencydepartments.InthisanEmergencyButton(EB) is also used for
sendinganinstantmessagetoFire,Police,andAmbulance.Thevictim/usercanalsosendtheseparatemessagetoparticularsystem.
Atthesametimethenumbersavedbythevictiminthesystemalsogetsanalertmessageforinstanthelp.ItusestheGPSforfinding
the location of nearest service.
TheapplicationneedsGPSservicetobeavailableinthemobilephoneforfullfunctioning.Ifthemobilephonedoesnothave
GPS service, then this application will show an error message, but still sending the message to the registered contactnumbers.
This feature is very useful for those users who don’t have GPS enabled mobile phone.
Let us, illuminate certain points in order to understand the situation and need for this application:
 Unable to contact during emergency.
 Unable to reach nearest hospital in caseof emergency.
 Unable to find the route to a hospital,police station in case of emergency.
 Unable to save some important locationsand their route.
 Unable to send multiple messagesduring emergency.
Inthissystemincludessomemodulesfortheuser:
1. User Module: User raises the issue in case of any emergency from his/her Android Application with message. User’s
location tracked with the help of GPS. Allthedetailsofuserlocationissendtotheservicesfor further assistance.
 User Login/Registration: Here the user has to register his details and create a loginaccountbyprovidingUserIDand
Password.
 Account: The user can change their own number as well as the numbers of friends/family members saved in the
database while registration setting.

 Emergency Button (EB)

This System is motivated by the observationthat police and ambulance units often reach too late on crime scenesand
peopleunknowntovictimareoftenhelpful.The Proposed system is an SMS based system which is simple andfastmechanismto
callforhelpinnecessarysituations. We propose system which overcomes the so-called bystandereffect.Nearbypeopleoftendo
not recognize or take responsibility for ongoing emergencysituations.
We motivate an emergency alert system that makes use of the wide availability of smart phones and informnearby
emergencyservicesandsendmessagetothe contacts provided by the user to thesystem. It requires no moreinteractionfroma
victim/user,justasimpleclickona smart phone.
3. ARCHITECTURE
In geometry, trilateration isdefinedastheprocessofdeterminingabsoluteorrelativelocationsofpointsbymeasurementof
distances, using the geometry of circles, spheres or triangles.
CONCLUSIONS
We have concluded that this proposed system is user friendly and easy to handle. This system is simple & gives fast
response to the user/victim in need any one who is using smart phone with the internet connection can able to track his real
time location and hence it also shows the destination which is required by the users .
As the dedicated GPS devices are costly we have chosen android mobile phone as GPS device. Because all the android
mobile phones have this built-in feature. GPS device will find out the current location from satellite. Depending on certain
condition wewill find the locationagain. Might after certain distance of location changewewillcountthelocationagain.Wewill
plot this location to map. At the same time we will connect with an external web server to send this information there. The web
server will store the visiting path asa summation of someco-coordinatingpoints.Actually,thewebserverisarestrictedarea.So
we will have to use username and password to login that area. We can see the visiting path from the desktop or any other
portable device. Like other systems it is also not free from drawbacks. It will need the GPS service on from the time we want to
track. It will mostly use the battery power of the mobile phone. For this reason our mobile phone can beautomaticallyswitched

off for lack of power. We need to depend on Internet connection to store the information to the web server. If there is some
problem with Internet connection or lack of necessary bandwidth, we may not be able to send the data correctly

S. Gajbhiye ---------------------------------------------------------------------***--------------------------------------------------------------------- Abstract - In Today's world, Android is one of the most widely used technologies. It is being used in various fields like gaming, communication, social media, shopping, and daily organization, etc. There is one more field where android technology is being used such as public services like Police, Hospital/Ambulance, Fire, Transportation, and Food/Restaurants, etc. Their existing applications or web services which provide these services to user but through different application. The existing system are developed using simple SMS facility. Here, propose a system which is not only based onSMSfacility,butalsoincludeInternetBasedfacilities like Wi-Fi, GPRS, and GPS, etc. Now days, security isan essential componentfor user, so we have alsoprovided security as well as anonymity. This application isuser- based i.e. anyone can use it. Key Words: Emergency Services, Android, SMS-Based, Internet-Based Facilities, EB, GPS. 1. INTRODUCTION Now a days with the rapid increase of Smartphone’s devices, there users are also increasing as it becomes a major source of information. It is apparently showing the interest of users in mobile applications that provide storage, analysis and visualization of the information [1][12]. Most of smart phones equipped with computer processing ability are used to access network and use different applications developed to meet the user requirementviamobilecommunicationnetwork[18].Inlast 07 years, different android Mobile applications have been developed including top paid and free apps also some focus on GPSGlobal Positioning System are developed [19]. In various research papers focus on Android Applications till March 2015, different methods are compared in order to use GPS for location tracking and routing[1][2][3]. Android-based mobile applications named as GPS phone tracker pro, Mobile Location Tracer, and Location Tracker provides location address of the user and famous applications on Google Play but these applications have no advance features but still more than 0.8 million people downloaded these applications[3][9]. Furthermore applications like Locate My Friends, Family Locator[8] and Family Locator & Messaging[13] has also more than 0.6 million user downloaded history and are used for finding friends and family location but it has a lot of functionality complaints from users, which includes glitches and application crashing. Mobile Caller Location Tracker, All call Location Tracker and SMS Tracker has more than 0.5 million downloads and locates only user’s location whose mobile phones are connected during call and short message service. There are also some famous mobile applications exit which tracks vehicle location like Vehicle Location Tracker[4], Find MyCar and Tracker these apps has more than 0.5 downloaded history but user complaints about the features of the apps. Someotherapplicationsarealso designedwith limited functionality to track lost devices e.g. Where My Droid [1], GPS Phone Tracker Pro and Mobile Location Tracker.Online location tracking using gps is a location- based system which is used for multiple purpose of the user. Nowadays, an android mobile isa most popular andday to dayliferoutine for every next person. An android application can be used forbothpersonal and for business as it allows you to track your real time location . So, theseandroidapplications can be used for helping and providing people a service which is secured and safe in any situations. Consider, a person who is new in an area and have no idea about the locality at the an outsider who has no idea about the locality and want to go to his destination place as soon as possible, wheather its a hospital, a police station ,or a mall, etc,.location trackingapp help him to get to his locationsafely using GPS. Online EventLocation Trackingappwillprovidepublic services to all the people based on their current position using Global Positioning System (GPS) and wirelless Communication (WC)technologies. Using the location tracking app, people who wanttosearchthenearest destinationHospital,Policestation,andFireincase of emergency. The person in an emergency and who wantto be at their destination atanytimeassoonaspossibleoranybodyat the crisis who wants toreach their destination safelycanuseonlinelocationtracking system. 2. LITERATURE SURVEY As per ‘WorldRoadStatistics2015’releasedbyinternationalRoadFederation,Geneva,Indiarecordedthesecondhighest number of road accident fatalities per 100,000populations,whichwasat11.RussianFederationtoppedthelistat19per100,000. 1,374roadaccidentstake place everyday resulting in 400 deaths. This number translatesto57accidentseveryaveragehourand resultinginthedeaths of17.That’s a high number byanystandardandshouldbeamajorcauseforworryforallstakeholdersthat useandmanageroadsandhighways inthecountry.In the year 2015, as per the survey of Indian governments ministry of road transport and highways departments, there were near about 5, 01,423 lakh road accidents in India, as against 4, 89,400 lakh in

The number of deaths in 2015 was 1, 46,133 lakh as against 1, 39,671 lakh. The number of people injured from these accidents was 5, 00,279 lakh in 2015, as against 4, 93,474 lakh in 2014. There is loss of life due to the delay in the arrivalof ambulance to the hospital in the last minute. When a vehicle meets with accident, it immediately sends its GPS location to the services. The database of the system has contacts provided by the users. The user selects the nearestambulancetotheaccident spotusingthedatabase containing the details of free ambulances at that point of time. Mobile applications are the best way to keep the consumers busy. As the increasing demand for smart phones and the efficiency of wireless networks, the demandformobileapplicationshasincreaseddrastically.Androidisoneofthemostpopular opensourceplatforms. AsitoffersthedeveloperstoaccesstheframeworkAPI’sto buildinnovativeapplications.Themainaimof thissystem is to build an Android application that helps the users to gettheemergencyserviceasfastaspossible.Inourday-to- daylife, weuse different types of application basedonAndroid.Inmarket,therearevariousSOSbasedapplicationaredeveloped usingAndroidplatform.TheSOSapplicationisGoogle–Mapbasedapplicationwhichhelpsinfindingemergencyservices.TheSOS tracking system uses the Location tracing system by using GPS based Localization in order to help people. Emergency occurs anywhere at any location, at anytime and in variousways will make one at risk and require a speedy response. Emergencies include Fire, Medical Emergencies and accident, etc. In this paper wepresent a systemforEmergencyServices, whichenableslocation-basedserviceavailable in smart phone. Location Co-ordinatesaresendingoneachrequest.Thecommon man can makeuse of this system in case of any emergencies. As a part ofliteraturesurvey, we have gone through women safety applicationsthatalreadyexistinthemarket.Themotiveis to observe the working oftheseapplicationsandinwhatwaytheycan be improved and how they are different. In the survey, it is been observed that the Android App forwomensafetyarebetterand areofferingrelativelysimilar service. In the survey, we have studied various social emergencyalertservicewhichselectsnearbymembersofthesocialgroup ofthevictimandnotifyingthemaboutthe victim’sneedforhelpandthevictim’slocation. When anaccidenthappensthemessage is send by the user/victim to control room or a rescue team by using GPS Technology. GPS is a group of more than 24 communications satellites that transmit signals globally around the world. Using a GPS receiver, anyone can quickly and accuratelydetermine thelatitude,thelongitude,andinmostcasesthealtitudeofapointonoraboveEarth'ssurfacecandetermine. Due to short circuits in many areas there are chances of fire generation. So at that time Fire service is required. If the serviceis notprovidedatmomentthenthereispossibility of great loss. In most of the countries, there are senior citizens who stay alone, away from their family inoldage homes or alone by themselves. Suppose if we consideremergencysituationslikefireathome due to some unfortunate conditions and as being alone or sleeping at home leads to major injuries and even sometimes death. The security of women at night and at times even in day when travelling alone is a concern. If in any case the emergency situation occurs, the ambulance and other service had reached the spot late hindering emergencymedical treatment, and then any heinous crime may happenwiththewomen.Inthissituationthenearbypolicecan help to the helpless women in that area. They can reachasfastaspossibleusingtheemergencyapplication. There isa free telephone number foremergency services in India. It is currently operational in 20 states (Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand and UttarPradesh)andtwo Union Territories (Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.) The 108 Emergency Response Service is a free emergency service providing integrated medical, police andfireemergencyservices.Theserviceisa public-privatepartnership between stategovernmentsandprivateEMSproviders. This NAS system was introduced by Central government of India. When an emergency is reported through 108, the call taker gathers the needed basic information and dispatches appropriate services. Basic information obtained includes:  Wherethe call is placedfrom. ( district / tehsil /city/ town / exact location / landmark )  The type of emergency.  Number of people injured and the condition of the injured.  The caller's name and contact number – for location guidance if required. The caller needs time to gather this information, till that time the ambulance reach to the specified place the patient may unfortunately die. So as per the survey, we are developing an android application which will provide basically three emergency services as wellasoneEmergencyButton(EB),whichwill givethenearestlocationoftheseserviceswiththelocationoftheuserandusingthe EB the message is send to the contact numbers.

Alsothey maynotbesuitablefor personal emergency for a common man like handicap adults or old-agecitizens. In existing system, the user sends help request on helper’s phone with its location. Then the nearest person from the social group receives a request. After receiving client messagebased onthedistanceof thevictimwhether to display the alert request or not iddecided. The existing system describes aboutan SOS application developed in androidplatform.TheSOSapplicationavailableis thattheuserneednotspenttimein searching menu insidethe phone. Manyapplications available in the market send a message to the number registered but not the location of the user. Because of this drawback the location is not traced exactly and the emergency service is not provided on right moment. 2.2 PROPOSED SYSTEM In our proposed system, we have used three emergencydepartments.InthisanEmergencyButton(EB) is also used for sendinganinstantmessagetoFire,Police,andAmbulance.Thevictim/usercanalsosendtheseparatemessagetoparticularsystem. Atthesametimethenumbersavedbythevictiminthesystemalsogetsanalertmessageforinstanthelp.ItusestheGPSforfinding the location of nearest service. TheapplicationneedsGPSservicetobeavailableinthemobilephoneforfullfunctioning.Ifthemobilephonedoesnothave GPS service, then this application will show an error message, but still sending the message to the registered contactnumbers. This feature is very useful for those users who don’t have GPS enabled mobile phone. Let us, illuminate certain points in order to understand the situation and need for this application:  Unable to contact during emergency.  Unable to reach nearest hospital in caseof emergency.  Unable to find the route to a hospital,police station in case of emergency.  Unable to save some important locationsand their route.  Unable to send multiple messagesduring emergency. Inthissystemincludessomemodulesfortheuser: 1. User Module: User raises the issue in case of any emergency from his/her Android Application with message. User’s location tracked with the help of GPS. Allthedetailsofuserlocationissendtotheservicesfor further assistance.  User Login/Registration: Here the user has to register his details and create a loginaccountbyprovidingUserIDand Password.  Account: The user can change their own number as well as the numbers of friends/family members saved in the database while registration setting. 2. Service Module: We implement sub modules in service module;  Fire  Ambulance/Hospital  Police  Emergency Button (EB)

We propose system which overcomes the so-called bystandereffect.Nearbypeopleoftendo not recognize or take responsibility for ongoing emergencysituations. We motivate an emergency alert system that makes use of the wide availability of smart phones and informnearby emergencyservicesandsendmessagetothe contacts provided by the user to thesystem. It requires no moreinteractionfroma victim/user,justasimpleclickona smart phone. 3. ARCHITECTURE In geometry, trilateration isdefinedastheprocessofdeterminingabsoluteorrelativelocationsofpointsbymeasurementof distances, using the geometry of circles, spheres or triangles. CONCLUSIONS We have concluded that this proposed system is user friendly and easy to handle. This system is simple & gives fast response to the user/victim in need any one who is using smart phone with the internet connection can able to track his real time location and hence it also shows the destination which is required by the users . As the dedicated GPS devices are costly we have chosen android mobile phone as GPS device. Because all the android mobile phones have this built-in feature. GPS device will find out the current location from satellite. Depending on certain condition wewill find the locationagain. Might after certain distance of location changewewillcountthelocationagain.Wewill plot this location to map. At the same time we will connect with an external web server to send this information there. The web server will store the visiting path asa summation of someco-coordinatingpoints.Actually,thewebserverisarestrictedarea.So we will have to use username and password to login that area. We can see the visiting path from the desktop or any other portable device. Like other systems it is also not free from drawbacks. It will need the GPS service on from the time we want to track. It will mostly use the battery power of the mobile phone. For this reason our mobile phone can beautomaticallyswitched

We need to depend on Internet connection to store the information to the web server.
