Establishing a
Corporate Presence
A corporation can develop a strong presence on Facebook
in multiple ways. If you are an executive within a
corporation, you might question why any company would
want a presence on a social network that seems so
personal in nature. If you don’t want to fish in a pond that is
packed with approximately 800,000 new fish every single
day, then have fun somewhere else. I, of course, say that
with some sarcasm. I do understand that some companies
resist using Facebook for business purposes.
Key points in this presentation:
 Develop a Corporate Facebook Presence

Developing a Corporate
Facebook Presence
• One of the easiest ways for companies to begin developing a corporate
presence is to ensure that your employees use the same name for the
company in their profiles. When a company is first created by a user, it is
saved into Facebook’s database so that when other employees join they
can find and use a standardized company name. This helps to link
employees together and allow users to search for you based on a company
search!
• With Facebook continuing to grow more and more in popularity, it makes
sense to develop a corporate presence. At the very least, establishing even
a basic presence on Facebook can make it more difficult for others to claim
your brand on Facebook. If you need even more convincing, realize that
Facebook is now the top driver of traffic, over Google, to large sites.
Facebook Pages
• Facebook describes Pages as “a voice to any public figure or organization
to join the conversation with Facebook users
• Facebook Pages are used by celebrities, bands, sports teams, corporations,
films, nonprofits, and those users who have exceeded the friends limit on
their personal profile pages.
 Claim your Facebook Page
• The first step is to claim, classify, and get your Facebook Page created.
One of the easiest ways to do this is to search for a Facebook Page that is
already created. Scroll to the bottom and in the left corner, you notice a link

you’re active in, including your Facebook Page. You can do this by creating a

can link out to.
• You can run targeted Facebook ads that appear in the right sidebar area or news
