This document summarizes a research paper that proposes combining a unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) with a photovoltaic (PV) array. The UPQC uses series and shunt inverters connected back-to-back to compensate for both voltage and current-related power quality issues in both grid-connected and islanding modes.
