- #3: Langley CYC has been in existence since 1979. The committee initially arose out of a provincial government initiative, but though the government initiative may have ended, the CYC recognized a good thing when we saw it. We represent many different service agencies in Langley including the City and Township, Provincial Government, many not for profits , and Trinity Western University. The CYC has and still provides a place for agencies with a similar interest to come together.
- #4: Our Terms of Reference set out our purpose. To that end we have a strategic plan that includes enhancing our community capacity, networking and communication, and planning strategically.
- #5: The CYC membership is all agencies that have an interest in children and youth both as individuals and within the context of their families.
- #6: While the main committee provides a place for communication, planning and problems solving, our subcommittees provide vibrant , active agents of change in the community.
- #7: Mention also the Refugee forum Mention also that the ECD subcommittee is currently completing the ECD profile and the work planning a youth centre.
- #8: We appreciate the involvement of the City and Township on the CYC and subcommittees and their contributions via: Township - grants, and printing. City – grants and space
- #9: But we think we can be an asset to the community and that working more closely can assist the City/Township and the community. The CYC members are experienced in consulting with the community. We also are seeking partnerships that enhance services. We believe that more can be done to serve Langley if we work in partnership.
- #10: Our connections to harder- to-reach populations can assist in obtaining input to municipal projects. This can result in better information to support decisions. We also can provide information to municipal projects such as the ECD profile.
- #11: We would be happy to contribute to planning efforts in these areas as we are already, through our subcommittees, working on issues like youth homelessness and access to recreational services for school aged children. We believe by working together we have improve Langley’s place as a place livable for children youth and families.
