LIFE CYCLE TALENT
LCE Supports Commercial Marine Industry through Client-Site Professionals
A global manufacturer of marine propulsion
engines, marine generators, and fuel handling
systems required additional reliability
engineering support. Support was needed to
create FMEAs to define what equipment
needs to be monitored in order to change
from time-based to condition-based overhauls
and to reduce the need to open the engine
and inspect parts as required by class
societies like the American Bureau of Shipping
(ABS). There was a need to develop and train
the manufacturer’s in-house engineers,
dealers, and customers, as well.
Directly hiring and training a new employee is
a lengthy and expensive process, particularly
when there is an immediate need to meet
client demand.
The result will be that customers can reduce
the scope and frequency of these intrusive
inspections based on equipment health data,
thus reducing the length of time in dry dock
and allowing the vessel to get back in service
more quickly.
SOLUTION RESULTS
CHALLENGE
To resolve this issue, LCE:
• Deployed two Reliability Engineers who are
employees of LCE to work at the
manufacturer’s site on a full-time basis for
18+ months.
• Leveraging LCE’s vast body of knowledge on
marine equipment, the Reliability Engineers
have expanded the knowledge of the in-
house engineering staff.
• LCE leveraged adult learning professionals
from its Life Cycle Institute to develop and
deliver reliability best practice training for the
manufacturer’s engineering staff, dealers, and
customers.

LCE Supports Aluminum Parts Manufacturer through Client-Site Professionals
A global producer of aluminum parts was
having a high level of equipment failure that
their in-house staff was not able to address
due to lack of experience and bandwidth.
The companies did not have the internal
reliability engineering business processes
required to effectively capture and address
these failures.
The site was unable to get approval to hire
more direct staff.
As a result of LCE’s immediate placement, the
manufacturer’s engineers are utilizing best
practice standards for analytics development
and developing and deploying new reliability
models to support new and existing
commercial installations.
The manufacturer operates with reduced risk
and reduced labor cost by utilizing LCE’s expert
talent only for as long as needed to accomplish
their asset and reliability goals.
SOLUTION RESULTS
CHALLENGE
To resolve this issue, LCE:
• Deployed two Reliability Engineers who are
employees of LCE to work at the
manufacturer’s site on a full-time basis for 12
months. During that time the LCE resources:
• Provided experienced, expert reliability
engineering support to build the required
business processes
• Developed the business processes that
accurately documented the financial
impact of the failures
• Performed multiple root cause failure
analyses (RCFA) and developed preventive
maintenance (PM) programs and
recommendations to minimize or eliminate
failures
• Provided services to meet the
manufacturer’s specific need

LCE Supports Food Manufacturing Company through Client-Site Professionals
A global manufacturer of food products was in
need of a director of Engineering and
Maintenance (E&M). They had experienced
major turnover in their staff that had severely
impacted their ability to respond to the
business' day-to-day needs, as well as longer
term requirements. Including both salary and
hourly roles, 75% of all E&M positions needed
to be filled. Rebuilding this totally decimated
group into a fully functioning Engineering &
Maintenance organization was clearly the top
priority.
Directly hiring and training a new employee is
a lengthy and expensive process, particularly
when there is an immediate need to meet
client demand. Having a seasoned resource
that could be quickly plugged into this
situation was critical.
The experienced LCE expert has been
invaluable in identifying top talent and helping
to begin rebuilding this organization:
• A strong Maintenance Supervisor/Reliability
Engineer candidate has been hired
• Despite challenges related to timing (year-
end holidays, COVID, etc.), strong candidates
have been identified for all of the other
salaried positions and are currently in the
interview cycle
• Mechanic pay rates were not competitive
with the local market and have now been
reset. An advertising “blitz” is being created
to highlight the new wage rate, and it will
soon be possible to attract qualified
candidates to join this organization
As a result of LCE’s immediate placement,
the manufacturer is beginning to work its way
out of this dire situation.
SOLUTION RESULTS
CHALLENGE
To resolve this issue, LCE:
• Deployed an experienced E&M Director who
is an employee of LCE to work at the
manufacturer’s site on a full-time basis for 6
months. Once on-site, the E&M Director took
actions to accelerate the filling of multiple
open positions, including:
• Establishing a network of capable
recruiters to source qualified candidates
• Developing a multi-pronged advertising
strategy to help locate candidates,
especially for the hourly positions
• Leading an effort to evaluate the wage
rates of the hourly E&M workforce relative
to local industry
• He has also provided the day-to-day
leadership and technical support required to
keep the plant operational.

LCE Supports Global Oil Producer through Client-Site Professionals
A global oil producer required additional
reliability engineering to support root cause
analysis (RCA) investigations aimed at
minimizing deferment and maximizing safety
on its oil producing platforms.
Directly hiring and training a new employee is
a lengthy and expensive process, particularly
when there is an immediate need to meet
client demand.
As a result of LCE’s immediate placement, the
company’s engineers are finding causal factors
associated with high level deferment events,
safety incidents, and spearheading change
management aimed at driving best practices
company wide.
The company operates with reduced risk and
reduced labor cost by utilizing LCE’s expert
talent only for as long as needed to accomplish
their asset and reliability goals.
SOLUTION RESULTS
CHALLENGE
To resolve this issue, LCE:
• Deployed an LCE Reliability Engineer to join a
dedicated RCA team at the corporate
headquarters on a full time basis for 18
months
• Provided expert reliability engineering
support in the analysis of the failures, safety
investigations, and development of the failure
mitigation and control strategies

LCE Supports Industrial & Manufacturing Clients through Direct Placement of
Maintenance & Reliability Professionals
A consumer goods manufacturing client was
struggling to hire key Reliability Engineers in a
remote part of the country. Their recruiting
team had exhausted all internal options, and
operations was suffering 6 months into the
search.
A manufacturing client was expanding rapidly,
doubling their facility and employee
headcount. They were struggling to attract the
right talent for key Maintenance & Reliability
leadership roles as they staffed individual
contributor roles. As a result, deploying key
processes and programs was delayed.
As a result of LCE’s direct placement services,
our clients have the internal staff and
leadership needed to execute plans and
initiatives that improve reliability and company
performance.
SOLUTION RESULTS
CHALLENGE
To resolve this issue, LCE:
• Engaged the client’s operations leadership
and human resources team to understand the
challenges they faced during the recruiting
process
• Provided feedback on market pay, candidate
experience/length of hiring process, and
online employment brand, among others
• Provided additional candidate sourcing
support through LCE’s recruiting capabilities
and robust network of maintenance &
reliability professionals
